Description

The thesis targets the improvement of our Lidar sensor model and its validation for L4 autonomous driving.

The current Lidar sensor model is based on raytracing. However, the literature shows that some physical effects are currently not considered such as beam divergence.

Scope of the thesis

  1. Implementation of more detailed physical effects based on the currently used Lidar sensor model. Models are based on existing raytracing results from the used simulation tool and the scope is the generation of Lidar point clouds
  2. Methods for calibration of model parameters using measurements, e.g., get valid intensity or reflectivity.
  3. Validation of implemented Lidar sensor models with distinct levels of fidelity for different simulation use cases
