Role: MarkLogic Database Administrator (DBA)
Location: Remote (Anywhere in US)
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced MarkLogic Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, maintain, and optimize our MarkLogic database environments. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the high availability, performance, security, and scalability of MarkLogic databases, as well as providing technical expertise to support development teams.
Key Responsibilities:
• Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain MarkLogic databases across development, testing, and production environments.
• Perform regular database health checks, backups, restores, and performance tuning.
• Monitor database performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal performance and availability.
• Implement security policies to protect data at rest and in transit, including role-based access control and encryption.
• Regularly update and apply security patches to the database systems to address vulnerabilities.
• Collaborate with development teams to integrate MarkLogic with other systems and optimize data ingestion workflows.
• Manage and maintain database indexes, triggers, and custom data models in XML, JSON, and RDF formats.
• Analyze and resolve database performance issues, including query optimization, memory usage, and indexing strategies.
• Perform capacity planning and resource management to ensure efficient data processing and storage.
• Monitor database metrics, logs, and alert systems to proactively identify and address potential issues.
• Prepare regular reports on database performance, health, and resource utilization.
• Implement and maintain database backup strategies and disaster recovery plans.
• Perform recovery procedures in case of data loss, ensuring minimal downtime.
• Work closely with developers, system administrators, and business users to support application and system requirements.
• Provide technical support and training to users and developers on MarkLogic features and best practices.
• Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Proven experience as a MarkLogic DBA with hands-on experience in database administration, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
• Familiarity with MarkLogic architecture, XQuery, and search application development.
• In-depth understanding of MarkLogic administration, database design, and deployment best practices.
• Strong knowledge of XML, XQuery, XPath, JSON, and RDF.
• Experience with MarkLogic clustering, replication, and failover configurations.
• Proficient in Linux/Unix systems administration and shell scripting.
• Knowledge of networking concepts, including DNS, firewalls, load balancers, and reverse proxies.
• Familiarity with cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure) is a plus.
• Strong problem-solving abilities with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to prioritize tasks and work effectively under pressure.
