Bungie is seeking a UI/UX Lead responsible for the quality execution of Marathon’s player interface and interconnected experiences. As a UI/UX Lead, you will be responsible for informing Marathon’s UI/UX roadmap that answers product goals and details a clear relationship with all areas of design. You will lead small teams to deliver those experiences, driving design alignment and collaboration across creative disciplines. You will also be accountable for unblocking and empowering UI/UX designers and ensuring the quality of their craft.
In the context of Marathon, you are a member of a leadership group focused on a specific area of the player experience, called a Domain. You will be accountable to the team creative lead and inform the UI/UX design decisions for your Domain, while continuing to drive a consistent and holistic user experience across groups.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Build a compelling UI/UX Feature roadmap for a large portion of the game that aligns with the creative and production priorities and details a clear relationship with experience design
- Drive, coordinate, empower, and unblock UI/UX and partner teams
- Relentlessly build alignment between creative and executional leaders
- Ensure the UI/UX team's work is achievable by guiding them to appropriately adjust scope based on technical realities
- Work closely with the Domain and Marathon Leadership Teams to set guidelines for implementation of the Marathon IP via the extraction shooter genre
- Support the work of cross-discipline teams to understand and execute on what is best for the game
- Maintain Marathon IP quality, design craft excellence, and consistency
- Lead the communication and “why” behind design decisions
- Own features and development of design decisions with partner teams
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Experience executing UI/UX design pillars and systems, especially with respect to usability
- Previous experience as a design lead or above focused on UI/UX for a large-scale, multiplatform, live-service game
- Experience designing, documenting, and building UI/UX systems, especially with respect to usability
- Intuitive understanding of what engages players and what brings them value and excitement in a complicated challenge space
- Excitement for collaboration with designers, artists, programmers, audio professionals, quality assurance and producers to achieve a common goal, no matter where they are
- Ability to creatively align with the team and then build alignment with the greater Marathon team
- Social intelligence, great interpersonal skills, and empathy for creative teams
- Ability to handle ambiguity, including giving and handling feedback despite that ambiguity
- Familiarity and fluency with user research and how it should impact design decisions
For Senior Lead candidates:
- Extensive demonstrated ability to work independently, driving tasks to completion with efficiency and reliability
- Proactive in making design decisions and solving problems with a focus on the broader impact to the overall project
- Strong ability to engage in both discipline-specific and cross-functional discussions, contributing to a collaborative work environment.
- Skilled in contributing to and shaping design pillars, emphasizing creative strategy and execution
NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS
- Experience hiring, training, and managing other Designers
- Passion for, or direct working experience in PvP and/or extraction shooter genres
