Manufacturing Operations Team Leader

Location: Scarborough

We have an exciting opportunity for a Manufacturing Operations Team Leader to join our established team in Scarborough. This role will support the delivery of the operations Master Production Schedule focusing on cost quality and delivery whilst maintaining a safe working environment.

Your Dream Role:

  • Work collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team at various stages of the vehicle build. Leading your team and working with cell leaders to achieve planned production targets within agreed budget and timescale.
  • As an advocate of Change Management, you will be expected to prepare and support Team Members for the required changes, establishing the necessary steps for change, and monitoring pre- and post-change activities to ensure successful implementation.
  • Using your extensive experiences, you will ensure that your team use the right tools, materials methods to complete tasks on time, to quality and of course safely. As part of this, you will manage Level 2 Health & Safety processes within area of control to include identifying risks and post-accident investigations within a two-day timeline.
  • Your will also be required to ensure your teams skills are continually developed by providing support, guidance and maintaining the Department skill matrices. You will also be required to support and guide Apprentices that, as part of their agreement, will be under your leadership for a fixed period.
  • Building a vehicle is a complex and dynamic process and therefore, this is a non-exhaustive list of duties and responsibilities. As such, you may be asked to support with other activities as required.
  • You will be required to motivate Team Members and ensure all available resources are efficiently utilised.
  • You will be responsible in ensuring that the required output from your team is delivered to agreed Quality requirements.

You will also be expected to solve problems using your own initiative and to lead improvement opportunities ensuring your team share your values.
  • Where appropriate and in advance of doing so, you will Report critical part supply issues and liaise with relevant stakeholders as necessary e.g., Engineering, Supply Chain.
  • You will ensure that your teams work area is maintained in a safe and tidy manner, in line with 5’s methodology.
  • You will be responsible for your team to the adhere to the current working practices, by managing absence and completing return to work interviews, also manage any non-compliance issues and disciplinary matters.

What you will bring:

  • Proven Leadership or Supervisory experience is essential with supporting evidence of an ILM Level 3 Certificate or above and an IOSH Managing Safely or above.
  • Experienced in Change Management you will be required to ensure your team understand and are accepting of the reasons for change.
  • Ideally you will have knowledge of Coach & Bus build processes.
  • Due to the nature of the role, you will be comfortable reading and working from technical drawings, build specifications and standard operating procedures (SOP’s).
  • Attention to detail is essential and you should be fully computer literate with the ability to complete administrative tasks, documenting and updating company systems as required.
  • As a Team leader you should lead by example and be able to support and guide your team on any task required.
  • Finally, you should be comfortable and enjoy doing all of this in a deadline driven, pressurised environment.
  • Alongside your core technical skills, you will have strong communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to motivate team members and be able to prioritise and delegate work requirements efficiently, either by working as part of a team or on your own, to a high standard of quality.
