The Operations Manager reports to the Plant Manager, and is responsible for the overall leadership of the production department’s operational performance as it relates to its safety, quality, financial, service, and employee relations success. The Operations Manager is a member of the site Leadership Team.
Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Employee Development & Management
Ensure that operations team member goals are developed to allow team members to make a successful impact on the business goals and objectives and are clearly defined to drive individual and personal growth.
Attract, retain and develop high potential talent. Build a team capable of executing on organizational objectives.
Model and promote the Corporation's Code of Business Conduct, Ethics and Values.
Perform general management duties, exercising authority concerning staff, performance appraisals, promotions and terminations. Responsible for training and development of subordinate staff, estimating personnel needs, assigning work, meeting completion dates, interpreting and ensuring consistent application of organizational policies.
Operations Management Responsibilities

Be a visible leader capable of engaging team members at all levels of the organization.
Works collaboratively with the Plant Leadership Team to resolve challenges/concerns.
Create a vision and operating strategy/plan for the production department
Drive execution of site improvement plans, help set operations improvement goals, ensure priorities and accountabilities are clear, provide resources and remove obstacles to ensure success.
Leads collaboration with other functional areas to help resolve issues and improve manufacturing processes.
Successfully implement annual and long-term financial and business plans (safety, service, organization, financial and inventory).
Ensure that manufacturing team members meet site goals and objectives.
Develop Objectives, Goals, Strategies and Measures (OGSM) for assigned area and confirm linkage to global business strategies.
Understand and implement ISO 9001 procedures related to the role and responsibilities of the Operations Manager position.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (chemical or mechanical preferred); will consider non-degreed with extensive chemical industry experience
10+ years experience in a manufacturing environment (prefer chemical industry)
Strong knowledge and experience in a Process Safety Management (PSM)-regulated manufacturing environment
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated experience in leading and developing individuals and teams.
Must regard safety as a core value; must serve as role model for other employees and ensure adherence to safety practices, policies and procedures.
Strong knowledge and experience with the ISO 9000 Quality System.
