Internship Summary

Are you looking for an internship that provides real life experience?

Phoenix Contact’s ICE-IF Manufacturing Engineering Team is looking for a Summer 2024 Manufacturing Electrical Engineer Intern to assist with the following tasks: 1. Learn about different electrical test requirements and fixtures used to test production articles. 2. Learn how to read and understand electrical diagrams and schematics. 3. Learn how to perform IPC soldering operations. 4. Learn how to assemble electrical test systems based on product requirements. 5. Learn about BOM's and assembly operations in a manufacturing environment. Learn what documentation is required for maintenance of testing and programming processes for production articles. 6. Learn about trouble shooting products that fail electrical testing. 7. Learn about manufacturing processes and packaging requirements. 8. Work with engineers on prototype builds and assembly operations. 9. Learn to work on production team with other engineers and technicians.

Our Summer interns work full time. The intern has the possibility to continue the internship into Summer and Fall 2024.

What does a typical day look like?

Intern will work with a Manufacturing engineer on a project. It may involve performing production assembly and testing operations. The intern may be assigned a project to design a circuit board with specific functions that would assist or improve a testing process of production item. The intern may be involved with manufacturing engineering in the wiring of test fixtures. The intern could perform trouble shooting analysis of failed PCBA assemblies found in the testing operations.

What makes this internship unique?

This position is an opportunity for an individual to work in a manufacturing environment where they would be exposed to many aspects of an electronics environment. It would include troubleshooting of failure test production items and exposure assembly, testing, documentation, and process improvements.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • Electrical Engineering, or Computer Science Major
  • Electrical engineering knowledge
  • Circuit design
  • Computer programming
  • Microsoft Window, Excel, PowerPoint
  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • must be an undergraduate student at either a -
    Sophomore, Junior, Senior level.
  • Must be college student during internship

Must Be Able To...

  • Look at a computer screen for extended periods of time (up to 4 hours)
  • Sit and/or stand for extended periods of time (2-4 hours at a time)
  • Commute to Middletown, PA office
