Job Summary
The Manufacturing Assembler role will assemble or create sub-assemblies of electronic, mechanical and/or electromechanical parts, components, and final products. The position will ensure products are produced according to established customer and quality requirements and maintain records of assembly process, progress, and problems. This is a moderately supervised position with some latitude for independent judgment. The position will perform complex tasks, regularly complete assignments with little to no assistance and may assist less-experienced peers. This position is divided into three classifications: Manufacturing Assembler 1,2,3. The compensation pay band includes and is based on level of skills, knowledge, and experience.
Manufacturing Assembler 2 is the mid-range of the career series with 2-4 years of experience.
Manufacturing Assembler 3 is the most experienced level in the career series with a minimum of 5 years’ experience. This is a minimally supervised position with considerable latitude for independent judgment and will perform advanced tasks. The level 3 position will mentor less-experienced peers and assist the Manufacturing Manager and Leads and regularly complete assignments with no assistance. Serves as designated trainer for new and less-experienced peers. Does not formally supervise others.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Assemble products using pre-established guidelines, instructions, and documentation (diagrams, work instructions, drawings, etc.).
- Work with small hand tools such as, electric drivers, torque tools, wire strippers, cutters, tweezers, and use measuring devices such as spacers and calipers.
- Crimp, stake, screw, bolt, epoxy, fasten, align, adjust, press fit or perform similar operations to join or secure parts in place, using hand tools, power tools, machines, and equipment.
- Mount assembled components, such as transformers, resistors, transistors, capacitors, integrated circuits, and sockets on printed circuit boards and chassis.
- Connect wires between individual component leads and other components, connectors, terminals and contact points using soldering procedures and equipment.
- May perform assembly operations under microscope or other magnifying devices.
- Perform online go-not-go testing and inspection, using magnifying devices, measuring instruments, and electronic test equipment, to ensure parts and assemblies meet production specifications and standards.
- Learn through hands-on training while focusing on achieving necessary level of proficiency.
- Report/investigate repetitive assembly problems and propose solutions to resolve them.
- Work efficiently to finish jobs in a timely manner.
- Work under the supervision of Lead or Manager.
- Work collaboratively and cooperatively with other departments: Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials, Quality, etc.
- Document all work performed on product within the ERP system.
- Adhere to established Company procedures and policies, work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and meetings.
- Adhere to and improve safety standards.
- Manage workstation and practice good housekeeping techniques.
- Strive for continual improvement to quality.
Position Requirements
- High School diploma/GED required.
- Associate degree preferred.
- Must have a strong background in precision mechanical assembly
- Experience with proper soldering techniques and ESD prevention. J-STD Certification a plus.
- Clean room environment experience a plus.
- Ability to read and understand schematics, work instructions, and complex drawings/diagrams.
- Manual dexterity and ability to use common hand tools, calipers, micrometers and other measuring and test tools.
- Proficient with electronic test equipment, as needed to fulfill the duties of this role (various meters, power supply) highly desired.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written), as well as strong organizational skills.
- Excellent organizational, multi-tasking and prioritizing skills.
- Must have strong computer literacy to use ERP, PC and Microsoft products: Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
Physical Requirements
- Hearing and speaking to exchange information in person, on the telephone or virtually.
- Dexterity of hands, fingers, and wrist to operate a computer keyboard, calculator, or assemble/manufacture intricate items.
- Seeing to read a variety of materials.
- Sitting or standing for an extended period of time.
- Physical agility to lift up to 50 pounds to shoulder height. Any items that weigh more than 50 pounds will require two or more people or a lifting device to move.
- Physical agility to lift, carry, push, or pull objects.
Pay/Salary Information Pay scale for this position depending on experience- $22.50- $30.00/ Hourly
