OUR DATA PRACTICE

Capco’s global Data Practice team of 800+ data practitioners enables financial institutions to become data-driven by helping transform their understanding, management, storage, and use of data to derive value for themselves and their customers. 

Our team collaborates with clients to formulate focused, actionable, and effective data solutions that deliver business outcomes in a sustainable fashion. We translate strategy into action – designing, implementing and mobilising innovative data capabilities with a focus on efficiency and scalability, and partnering with leading vendors and industry bodies. 

Drawing on our deep domain and business expertise, we architect and engineer modern data platforms and curated data products, with a focus on automation and data management by design. We partner with business, operations, and technology teams to embed and sustain these capabilities in business-as-usual and are leading the design and implementation of next generation data platforms across the industry. 

Your Role

As a Managing Principal at Capco, you will be playing a key role in the delivery of data projects, leveraging your subject matter expertise to deliver large-scale change initiatives, formulate actionable data strategies and drive data driven cultures for leading Local and MNCs across the Financial Services and Insurance sectors.

Our projects vary in their nature, and your responsibilities will differ based on client requirements, but could include: 

  • Supporting the definition of the client’s data strategy, including its vision, objectives, and key results (OKRs)
  • Providing a clear and objective assessment of client data capability levels through capability assessment / maturity models
  • Facilitating interviews and workshops to identify client pain points and their root causes, and linking these to data capabilities (e.g. Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Architecture)
  • Reviewing existing client data processes, tooling, and governance, and providing recommendations to improve their effectiveness
  • Supporting the definition of the client’s data Target Operating Model (TOM), including design of processes, roles & responsibilities, and governance to sustain the data strategy in BAU
  • Supporting the definition of data policies, standards and guidelines
  • Assisting with data architecture reviews by advising on data management solutions
  • Building enterprise data management and privacy technology solutions and architecture blueprint
  • Translate business and technical requirements into an architectural blueprint to align with business objectives
  • Acts as a consultant on a broad range of data technologies, platforms and vendor offerings to drive targeted business outcomes

You will also play a role in developing the APAC Data Practice within Capco, which may include: 

  • Identifying and researching business development opportunities on new or existing clients and aiding the development of client proposals and bids
  • Contributing to internal / external-facing thought leadership
  • Developing data methodologies and accelerators to enhance Capco’s delivery capability
  • Supporting training of Capco resources in data methodologies

Your Skills and Experience 

Most importantly, you’ll have a passion for data. You will bring your aptitude for problem solving and change to enable clients to achieve their business outcomes. 

To qualify for the role, you will have most of the following: 

  • Significant experience (guide of 10+ years) with a large global consulting organization, within their data or technology practice with extensive experience delivering banking and/or insurance related projects.
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills; the ability to interact with colleagues at all levels and achieve goals without direct control over resources.
  • Having a strong commercial focus, the ability to develop client relationships, and lead sales opportunities and data/tech propositions.
  • Ability to build market networks and relationships to enhance the market awareness of the SG Data practice.
  • Engaging with technical and non-technical audiences to deliver change initiatives for leading clients across financial services, including investment banking, retail banking, wealth, and insurance.
  • Strong emerging end-to-end generalist problem solving skills, e.g., defining, and deconstructing problems.
  • Extensive project and people management experience and ability to deliver and manage projects and individuals workstreams.
  • A strong understanding of Data Strategy, Data Management, and Data Analytics principles (g., Data Architecture, Business Intelligence, Data Ethics Lineage, Data Models, Data Quality, Data Analysis, Data Science, Machine Learning, and Data Literacy), and one or more of several common Data Management methodologies and capability models (e.g. DAMA DMBOK, DCAM, CDMC) and toolsets
  • Experience supporting the definition of data strategies, business cases and roadmaps

Ideally, you will also bring: 

  • A strong understanding of the challenges, opportunities and regulations (e.g. ESG, LIBOR, BCBS-239, CCAR, GDPR, Consumer Duty) facing the Financial Services industry
  • Up-to-date knowledge of industry best-practices within data management and analytics
  • Formal certification in data management methodologies or capability models
  • A good understanding of modern, cloud-based technology architecture.
  • An outstanding ability to think strategically, execute tactically, and enable cross-business and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience and capabilities to communicate with client leaders to influence direction and manage expectations, and excellent project and people management skills.
  • Strong understanding of Agile ways of working would be an advantage.
