The WorkWave Team is looking for a skilled and capable Engineering Manager to guide our dynamic Technology Operations team. The Technology Operations Manager will oversee three critical sub-teams: DevOps, TechOps, and ITOps. The successful candidate will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth functioning of our technology infrastructure, driving efficiency, and fostering teamwork among team members. Our teams are a mix of technologists, Software Engineers, QA Engineers, Business Analyst, UI/UX designers, TechOps, and DevOps, all working to deliver our vision.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a diverse team of TechOps, DevOps, and ITOps Engineers, providing guidance, and mentorship to foster professional growth and development.
  • Work with cross-functional teams, including Development, QA, and Product Management, to ensure alignment and efficient delivery of projects and initiatives.
  • Develop and implement strategic initiatives to optimize the performance, reliability, and scalability of our technology infrastructure.
  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of automation, monitoring, and alerting systems to manage our continuous deployment and delivery pipelines.
  • Manage a queue of technical support requests, including IT issues, onboarding/offboarding, license management, access requests, and system administration, ensuring timely resolution and closure.
  • Encompass the growth and enhancement of the WorkWave Technology Operation team, including the recruitment of top-tier talent
  • Lead incident management and resolution efforts, ensuring timely response to operational issues and minimizing service disruptions.
  • Define and track key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure the effectiveness and efficiency of the WorkWave Technology Operations team in Sri Lanka.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to drive innovation and maintain a competitive edge.
  • Create and maintain knowledge base documentation to facilitate efficient issue resolution and knowledge sharing.
  • University qualifications in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Proven capability in a similar role, demonstrating proficiency in managing Technology Operations teams, coupled with at least 5 years hands on in Technology Operations role (DevOps/TechOps/System Engineer)
  • OR 7-8 years of experience in DevOps or TechOps, accompanied by strong leadership acumen
  • Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate teams to achieve their goals.
  • Deep technical expertise in areas such as cloud platforms (e.g., AWS), CICD platforms and tools (e.g., TeamCity, Octopus, GitHub), Infrastructure as Code (e.g., Terraform), scripting (e.g., Bash, Shell, PowerShell), Monitoring tools (Zabbix, CloudWatch) and Git-based workflows.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Certifications such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, or ITIL Foundation Certification, is highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of agile methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban
