The Work
We are looking for a self-starter, someone results-driven and able to make sound decisions to drive unique solutions pertaining to Capital and Reporting.
In this role, the incumbent will assume responsibility for supporting the co-ordination, development, and execution of stress testing programs, including Enterprise-Wide Stress Testing (EWST), OSFI Macro Stress Testing (MST), Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP) stress testing. This role will support the stress testing initiatives including the technical execution of the credit risk stress testing component including data, application, and results. Collaborating closely with the Director, the Manager will support the formulation of roadmaps and implementation plans while providing thought analytics to the team.
Stress Testing Development and Business as Usual (BAU)
- Support the design, development, and maintenance of the credit risk stress tests
- Work closely with the application developer to ensure business requirements are updated to support changes to the underlying stress testing application
- Strong technical skills in Python, SQL, Excel to support stress testing drill down analysis, building ad-hoc stress tests, and building new analytics, reporting.
- Support stressed scenario development with analysis and trends of macro-economic variables and determine severity of stress scenarios applied.
- Support the quarterly BAU stress testing reporting and analysis including answering enquiries from senior management.
- Complete monthly/quarterly business-as-usual stress test reporting and meet required timelines for board reporting (e.g., management reports, Board reports)
- Work with data providers (e.g., Enterprise Data Management, Finance, etc.) to ensure all necessary data inputs are obtained for the stress testing reports, and work with senior management to integrate feedback and inform progress
- Continuously think of optimization strategies to enhance and automate current stress testing reports and processes
Project-Level Analytics and Reporting
- Assist in the development and implementation of new reporting and risk management capabilities under the Advanced Internal Ratings Based (AIRB) approach. This includes:
- AIRB Stress Test reporting
- Internal Capital Adequacy Assessment Process (ICAAP) reporting
- Supporting the Bank’s Enterprise-wide Stress and MST initiatives
- Working with various stakeholders including senior executives, risk managers, the businesses, auditors, and information technology to design/develop analytical stress testing reports. Communication with various parties to obtain feedback and decision making, and ensure stakeholders are informed
- Conducting thorough testing of reports including data outputs, calculations and transformations prior to report implementation
- Ensuring proper requirements, procedures and process documentations are drafted and maintained for audit/validation purposes
- Utilizing reporting BI tools (e.g., Microsoft Power BI) to support report automation and efficiency
- Utilizing programming languages (e.g., Microsoft SQL, Python) to complete quick turnaround and accurate analytics
- Supporting ad hoc analytics, research or reporting where required
Let’s Talk About You!
- Post-secondary education in Economics, Accounting, Finance, Mathematics; CFA, FRM, and SCR preferred.
- Minimum 3+ years of experience in Stress Testing, Portfolio Analytics, Enterprise Risk Management, Finance, Economic Research.
- Solid understanding of AIRB, ICAAP, EWST, MST, Climate Risk, IFRS 9, Financial Statements, and Retail and Commercial businesses.
- Strong knowledge in Stress Testing, Economics, Credit Risk, Finance, and Liquidity.
- Strong organization, time management and multi-tasking skills; Ability to work at a fast pace and manage multiple deadlines at one time.
- Fluent in SQL (MS SQL and Azure SQL), Excel, and PowerBI and familiarity in Python for data wrangling and analysis.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills as well as excellent presentation skills with ability to conduct presentations comfortably to senior staff.
- Ability to identify and provide viable options and recommendations to support effective decisioning.
- High attention to detail, hands-on, detail-oriented reporting, and ability to influence senior management.
- Ability to effectively manage a team and mentor junior team members; lead by example and align each team members’ focus into a single cohesive vision.

The incumbent will be working hybrid and in office time will be spent working from Equitable Bank’s additional office space located at 351 King Street East, Toronto, ON.
