The SDET Manager is vital to the success of Entrata’s SDET teams and reports directly to our Director of SDET. This position is primarily responsible for helping our SDET teams achieve the outcomes set by the team and by leadership. These goals will be centered around department and team-level outcomes, as well as the goals of their counterparts on the product engineering teams. A successful candidate must be able to work cross-functionally with Engineering, Product, and UX managers as well as individual contributors.
Responsibilities will include:
- Leading and developing a team of technical SDETs on tactical, day to day, progress
- Managing team progress toward desired outcomes and driving the outputs that will lead to the achievement of those outcomes
- Effective at tracking and reporting progress and status of key outcomes to relevant stakeholders
- Ability to work with other leaders in Engineering, Product, and UX to achieve common goals and understand and resolve test concerns
- Evaluate test data for trends and potential testing improvements
- Identify and mitigate quality risks that will directly impact project timelines and deliverables
- Working with a high level of autonomy and the ability to leverage communication and metrics to drive outcomes
- Building confidence with peers and executives in the reliability of testing conducted by your team
- Creating and nurturing a psychologically safe work environment for everyone on your team and for those that interact with your team
- Developing and progressing the careers of those on your team
Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years of relevant experience in software or software testing
- 4+ years of experience leading teams
- Experience with the Selenium automation framework, or similar frameworks
- Strong background in implementing and/or using industry-standard testing tools
- Ability to drive ideas from concept to successful implementation and adoption
- Experience utilizing a variety of tools/technologies to solve testing problems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field
- Knowledge of programming/scripting languages (preferably Java)
- Experience with cloud services such as AWS, Azure, GCP
- Experience working with CI/CD as it relates to testing automation
- Previous experience managing SDET teams.
