Manager Safety, Systems and Programs

We have a great opportunity for a skilled safety professional with experience in the aviation industry to join our team in either Adelaide, Cairns, Darwin or Broome.

Reporting to the Head of Aviation Safety, Quality and Security, you will operate in a high-paced environment where you will be responsible for managing and promoting comprehensive safety programs with a focus on improving organisational safety outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Lead positive safety initiatives, activities and programs to target zero harm, enhance safety and quality compliance in support of our specialized airborne missions. 

  • Lead and oversee the assurance program including planning, coordinating and conducting audits and investigations to identify safety and quality deficiencies, determine causal factors and drive continuous improvement opportunities. 

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders on aviation safety and quality matters and to ensure efficient program operation.

  • Establish and maintain safety policy and procedure manuals to ensure alignment with regulatory and organisational standards. 

  • Lead the identification and assessment of safety risks by developing, implementing and maintaining comprehensive risk and change management systems, processes, procedures and tools. 

  • Tertiary Qualifications (completed or undergoing) in Safety Management (or equivalent aviation industry experience) with proven application and experience with safety management and/or risk management systems within a highly regulated industry, preferably in aviation.
  • Significant operational experience within the aviation industry in either a safety or an operational area.
  • A strong understanding of the aviation industry, its business practices, Safety Management Systems and the CASA regulatory framework. 
  • Lead Auditor qualification in Quality Assurance or Safety Auditing or in a similar field. 
  • Lead Investigator qualification in Safety Investigation with demonstrated experience producing and reviewing complex audit/investigation reports. 
  • Experience developing and implementing safety, quality and assurance management systems. 
  • Ability to hold and maintain an Australian Government / Australian Border Force security clearance.
