​​About the Role:

Hims & Hers is seeking an R&D Manager who will report to the Sr. R&D Manager and will be responsible for the product development for all new product launches across Hims & Hers Hair, Sex, and Mental Health Categories. This would include development of Rx products only.

You Will:

  • Partner cross-functionally with operations, quality, and sourcing on new product innovation to ensure alignment and feasibility, and to optimize product design within launch timelines.
  • Work closely with R&D Sr. Manager to prioritize workload based on the needs of the business and launch priorities 
  • Transfer technical knowledge to the manufacturing team and lead product scale up in a timely and rigorous manner.
  • Partner externally with vendors, suppliers and co-packers and assist in managing all aspects of the external formulation process including providing direction to contract fillers and 3rd party testing labs. 
  • Track milestones and communicate project risks to the Technical Project Manager in a timely manner. 
  • Work closely with the operations team to manage the weekly benchtop workload, and sample shipments based on launch priorities.
  • Troubleshoot formula and equipment issues in a production like setting and identify effective solutions for both new and existing products
  • Oversee the tech transfer of formulas from R&D experimental batches to production scale-up batches for tablets, topicals, gummies and new formats
  • Create clear processing instructions compounding processes such as weighing, mixing, blending , tableting and pressing
  • Build, and maintain current industry knowledge by attending conferences and tradeshows showcasing technical knowledge of non-sterile pharmaceutical compounding 
  • Partner with OPS & Engineering teams to provide input on new equipment purchases
  • Travel between AZ & OH facilities as needed to support pilots and cross-train with other members of the R&D team

You Have:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Chemistry, Food Science, Chemical Engineering, Food Engineering, Cosmetic Chemistry or related fields
  • A minimum of 5-7 years hands-on experience in an R&D setting with scale-up experience of solid dosage and liquid pharmaceutical products
  • Prior managerial experience is a plus
  • Regulatory background is a plus
  • Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills
  • Ability to stay cool and calm under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Pharmacy technician licensure in AZ & OH is a plus, but can be acquired with training upon hire.
  • Must be able to wear PPE including PAPR

Location: This role will be based in Phoenix, AZ with travel to Ohio and additional technical partner sites for training, and to support launch activities.

Conditions of Employment: 

  • This position will require working with Hazardous Drugs (HD) and would require that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) be worn for the length of working with these drugs. These items would include gloves, respiratory protection, gown and other items as required.
  • This position requires medical approval to wear respiratory protection in the form of negative or positive pressure respirators, including N95, full face respirator, SCBA, or Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR).
  • Physical exertion required. Including, but not limited to, walking up to 50% of the time, standing up to 100% of the time, squatting and bending up to 20% of the time and lifting up to 80% of the time for up to a twelve hour shift. Must be able to lift up to 50lbs.
  • Due to the risk of reproductive capability in handling or compounding certain Hazardous Drugs (HD) associates must be willing to confirm that they understand the potential risks (teratogenicity, carcinogenicity and reproductive effects) of handling hazardous drugs.

 

Outlined below is a reasonable estimate of H&H’s compensation range for this role for US-based candidates. If you're based outside of the US, your recruiter will be able to provide you with an estimated salary range for your location.

The actual amount will take into account a range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, and location. H&H also offers a comprehensive Total Rewards package that may include an equity grant.

$105,000$155,000 USD
