About The Role

Samsung Next is looking for a Senior Manager, Business Development to lead strategic business development engagements with Portfolio Companies in the AI/ML, Compute Infrastructure, and Robotics sectors, supporting their growth initiatives and steering partnership opportunities. This role supports the growth of portfolio companies through strategic business development and introductions that could result in partnerships and/or commercial relationships both within Samsung and with Fortune 1000 partners.  Additionally, this role is responsible for strategic partnerships initiatives that leverage insights from the startup community to inform strategy and drive opportunities for Samsung.   

This role reports to the Head of Business Development on the Samsung Next Platform team. The ideal candidate will be based near one of our US offices in either Mountain View, CA or New York City, but remote-based applications will be accepted as well. 

Responsibilities

  • Work with Samsung Next's portfolio companies to accelerate strategic business development goals. This includes making strategic introductions inside and outside of Samsung to help drive early Go To Market initiatives, including product market fit, proofs of concept, design partnerships, early experiential customers and new customer acquisition
  • Grow and engage Samsung Next's Partner Network for cultivation of future partnership opportunities with  portfolio companies
  • Lead strategy for growing the Partner Network in AI/ML, Compute Infrastructure and Robotics verticals, including driving work being conducted by the Sales Development Representative resource
  • Leverage insights and relationships from Samsung Next's portfolio companies and the greater startup community to inform the long term strategies of Samsung’s business units 
  • Collaborate seamlessly with the investment team, providing valuable insights and actively contributing to their strategic planning and deal flow initiatives

Required Qualifications

  • 5 to 10 years of relevant work experience in AI/ML or Compute Infrastructure including business development/sales experience and a proficient technical background (computer science degree or equivalent technical work experience); experience with startups is a bonus
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
  • Strong business development skills including critical thinking, communication and interpersonal skills, including ability to develop and nurture meaningful relationships both internally and externally 
  • Demonstrated ability to build and leverage networks and/or communities to advance strategic business development goals
  • Self-motivated with the ability to build value in an unstructured environment. Candidate should have a strong operational mindset with a decisive get it done and whatever it takes mentality
  • Ability to plan, organize, and prioritize multiple complex assignments and projects
  • Ability to formulate insights around complex business problems
  • Ability to travel to industry conferences and host events in order to foster strategic partnerships
  • Demonstrated passion for technology and learning through work experience or non-work activities
