Manager of Electrical Engineering

Vicarious Surgical is hiring an Electrical Engineering Manager to join our team in Waltham, MA. As an Electrical Engineering Manager, you will lead the team that creates the electrical components that run our robotic device. You will work closely alongside software and electrical engineers to specify and design solutions to complex real-world problems. As the manager you will set the execution pace for the team and provide overall technical leadership. 

Vicarious Surgical is a next generation robotics company developing a disruptive technology with the goal of increasing the efficiency of surgical procedure, improving patient outcomes and reducing healthcare costs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide electrical engineering leadership and guidance for the design and development of electrical components, systems, equipment, and packaging. This may include directing support personnel in the preparation of detailed designs and drawings, design-testing, and prototype fabrication.
  • Provide direct management to professional individual contributors and/or skilled support individual contributors (e.g., technicians, lab assistants, designers, support personnel).
  • Provides direction to employees to complete assignments using established guidelines, procedures, policies, and management guidance.
  • Follow medical device quality and safety standards (IEC 60601, ISO 13485).
  • Coordinate with external suppliers to produce electrical components and assemblies.
  • Adhere to processes outlined in the internal Quality Manual.

About You

  • 5+ years managing electrical engineering teams.
  • 5+ years of product development on medical or regulated devices.
  • BS in Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree.
  • Experience with the design of Class II,III Electrical Medical Equipment.
  • Ability to generate and analyze electrical/electronic design concepts.
  • Ability to design electrical/electronic assembly using a CAD system.
  • Familiarity with Altium and product lifecycle tools.
  • Working knowledge of common communication interfaces (SPI, I2C, USB, MIPI, etc).
  • Experience with high-speed sampling and routing, BLDC electric motors and A/D.
  • Experience in design for test, manufacturability and electromagnetic compatibility.
