Manager - Information Technology Operations

We are seeking an experienced Manager of Information Technology, Operations to join us in our mission to improve human health and quality of life through the development, distribution, and application of advanced computational methods!

Schrödinger is on the cutting edge of computer-aided drug discovery and materials science, and our software suites continue to revolutionize the design of therapeutics and materials. 

As a manager in our IT Operations team located in Hyderabad, India, you'll support communicating and collaborating on Schrödinger's global IT strategy across Europe and Asia. In tandem with the US-based IT leadership team, you will play a pivotal role in understanding the needs of our organization, guiding and mentoring team members, facilitating direction and collaboration with functional teams, and creating visibility for IT initiatives. This role requires a deep focus on building relationships and driving the success of our mission, with a particular emphasis on fostering partnerships both within and beyond the team, providing mentoring and coaching to team members, and maintaining a highly ethical culture.

What you’ll do:

  • Understanding and Needs Assessment:
    • Develop a deep understanding of the organization's objectives and challenges across APAC and EMEA
    • Collaborate with teams in each region to identify IT needs, pain points, and opportunities for improvement
  • Relationship Building, Mentoring, and Ethics:
    • Align closely with functional managers from the US in driving priorities and execution
    • Foster positive working relationships within the team and across the regions, promoting a collaborative and positive work environment
    • Provide mentoring and coaching to team members to support their professional growth and development
    • Uphold the highest ethical standards in all IT operations, ensuring compliance with organizational policies and industry regulations
    • Ensure that teams are aware of current developments, trends, and industry best practices specific to their respective regions
  • Direction and Collaboration:
    • Work closely with IT leadership in the US and cross-functional teams in APAC and EMEA to facilitate communication and collaboration on IT projects and initiatives
    • Provide guidance and direction to ensure the alignment of IT efforts in each region with the organization's strategic goals
    • Collaboratively build, align, and enforce global operating standards
    • Follow global standards, processes and best practices across regions and teams and help with identifying gaps

What you should have:

  • 5-8 years of relevant experience supervising a technical operations team
  • Robust project management skills and experience in overseeing complex IT projects across multiple regions
  • Exceptional understanding of IT operations, infrastructure, and emerging technologies
  • Excellent communication skills - written and spoken.
