Manager, Global Warehouse, Distribution, & Logistics

Twist is looking for a Global Warehouse, Distribution, & Logistics Manager to join our fast-paced team reporting into the Supply Chain Director.  In this role the Global Warehouse, Distribution, & Logistics Manager will be responsible for all aspects of order fulfillment, global shipping of product and materials management, receiving, inventory and warehouse management based out of our Wilsonville Facility. 

Twist is looking for a highly skilled and strong cross-functional team player to continue to develop and implement our global logistics and warehousing by partnering across all aspects of operations (MFG, quality, supply chain, finance, software development, customer support etc). The ideal candidate must thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and be able to take a leadership role in developing great internal and external partnerships, processes, and tools. This role requires an individual that can be effective at being hands-on to manage our current logistics and warehouse methods in the short-term while developing a strategic path forward that will deliver world-class systems and results.

The Global Warehouse, Distribution, & Logistics Manager will:

  • Build and sustain Twist's global logistics and warehouse strategy to support multiple sites
  • Define KPIs, implement, set goals, and develop a scorecard to report continuous improvement toward goals
  • Drive process improvements and automation for shipment collateral (bookings, commercial invoices, export registration, import permits, manufacturer's declaration, etc.), and warehouse systems ( automated transactions, inventory management)
  • Champion and point of contact to interface with systems developers (SAP, eCommerce, MES etc)
  • Assure processes within shipping, receiving, warehouse operations are compliant to regulatory requirements
  • Resolve logistic-related Order Fulfillment delays promptly and establish CAPAs as needed
  • Collaborate with Customer Support to implement systems that provide real-time delivery status quickly and efficiently to Customer Support or direct to customers.
  • Achieve global trade compliance by developing policies and implementing procedures and tools cross-functionally to monitor and sustain compliance.
  • Partner with Purchasing to negotiate transportation costs with carriers and 3PL partners globally.
  • Manage relationships and contracts with key global logistics partners (carriers, freight forwarders, 3PL/warehousing) and drive continuous improvement of partner KPIs.
  • Collaborate and align product distribution strategy
  • Own onsite and remote warehouse: continuous improvement physical inventory maintenance, cycle counts, space utilization
  • Mentor and develop staff to continuously improve skills and experience
  • Own, maintain and improve all Warehouse and Order fulfillment policies and procedures

    • Able to negotiate costs and service level agreements with logistics partners.
    • Able to negotiate best-fit solutions with a variety of stakeholders across many functions.
  • Analytical and presentation skills
    • Able to present detailed analyses and proposals to all levels of management. Proficient with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and comparable Google apps.
    • Able to develop strategies and solutions to meet long-term needs and effectively present to all levels of management
  • Warehouse Management
    • Able to manage several sites, leveraging several inventory management systems
    • Able to leverage best practices and drive change to keep up with organization growth
  • Operational Excellence
    • Demonstrated ability to teams
    • Able to drive CPI initiatives and implement Process Excellence (LEAN manufacturing, Six Sigma Process, 5S principles)

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 10+ years of warehouse, order fulfillment and logistics management experience in biotech or technology-driven companies where the expected skill set above was used extensively.
  • Experience effectively managing a variety of logistics partners to support a complex global business operating in all major regions (Americas, EMEA, APAC).
  • Experience developing programs, processes, global metrics, and procedures to enable an effective scale-up of the warehouse and logistics function.
  • Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma Process Excellence, LEAN and 5S principles highly desirable
  • Deep knowledge of ERP warehouse management functionality
  • Able to present detailed analyses and proposals to all levels of management. Proficient with Microsoft, Google, Atlassian suite of products
