Reporting to the Senior Manager, Planning, the Manager, Enrolment and Planning Services manages all activities related to enrolment, collection and reporting, as well as the calculation of enrolment projections, allocation of portables, and tracking of room usage.
The Manager will:
- Manage the collection of accurate actual enrolments for use by TDSB and submission to the Ministry of Education;
- Oversee the calculation of short- and long-term enrolment projections;
- Provide direction to schools on the reporting of actual enrolments and on the use of enrolment registers;
- Manage the allocation of portables to schools and the tracking of room usage across the system; and
- Manage the work of a team of Educational Planning Assistants.

What you will do:
- Manage the collection and reporting of actual enrolment within the TDSB and for submission to the Ministry of Education;
- Liaise with the Student Information System Department to coordinate the completion of monthly enrolment reports and OnSIS;
- Provide direction to schools on the reporting of actual enrolments and on the use of the enrolment registers;
- Liaise with the Ministry of Education on matters related to enrolment;
- Prepare annual reports to Board on actual enrolment and 3-year projected enrolment;
- Manage the preparation of system and regional enrolment projections;
- Coordinate the preparation of school-based enrolment projections with the Managers of Accommodation Planning and Planners;
- Liaise with various departments on matters related to admission targets, available spaces, number of students admitted to programs and locations etc;
- Serve as the main point of contact for school administrators, school office staff and Superintendents on all enrolment register inquiries;
- Coordinate systemwide communications to assist school staff with all aspects of enrolment record keeping;
- Coordinate the allocation of portables to schools with the Managers of Accommodation Planning and Planners;
- Lead the Portable Management Strategy collaboratively with the Design and Renewal
- Manage the collection of data on room uses in TDSB schools and buildings annually;
- Manage the updating of the Property Maps application with current room use data annually;
- Responsible for management and direction of Planning Assistants, including hiring, training, coaching, scheduling and performance management;
- Participate in the annual budget process for the Planning Department
- Work closely with the Planning Department’s leadership team to evaluate and recommend best approaches & practices to improve productivity and service delivery;
- Sit on various committees and attend meetings as the representative from the Strategy and Planning Department;
- Provide leadership in fostering equity and inclusiveness in the development and implementation of programs and services; and
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
What you will have:
- University degree in Planning with six years progressively responsible experience in a planning role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Membership, or eligibility for membership, in the Ontario Professional Planners Institute and the Canadian Institute of Planning;
- Expert knowledge of demography, population projections and enrolment projections;
- Expert knowledge of the Ministry of Education’s Enrolment Register Instructions and annual Planning processes to collect enrolment, project enrolment and allocate space to schools;
- Strong proficiency in the management and analysis of large datasets;
- Proficiency in the use of student information systems (e.g. PowerSchool);
- Knowledge of the Ministry’s Education Financial Information System and Education Capital Information System;
- Sound knowledge of the Education Act, the Planning Act, the Pupil Accommodation Grant and related Provincial regulations;
- Excellent analytical problem solving and critical thinking skills;
- Strong planning, organizational and project management skills;
- Supervisory experience with a proven record of effective leadership, mentoring and team building skills;
- Well-developed interpersonal, communication (oral, written) and presentation skills;
- Proficiency in computer applications (relational databases, geographic information systems, spreadsheets, word processing, Internet); and
- Proven ability in promoting equitable practices which value inclusiveness and diversity.
