The candidate will manage the team working on production cost modeling for North American and India markets. The candidate will be responsible to do system level analysis across globe using Plexos or PROMOD models. The candidate will solidify CES offerings to provide LMP forecasts, resource adequacy analysis and/or capacity expansion. The candidate will show thought leadership in the industry across North American and Indian markets by creating white papers or present analyses on public forums.
Position Responsibilities:

Model development and execution: Developing production cost models for system level analysis at state/ISO/national level using proprietary software like PROMOD/PLEXOS or open-source frameworks like PyPSA, GridPath etc.

Offerings and client deliverables: Create standard offerings like long term LMP, ancillary services forecasts, state level studies and meaningfully contribute to specific client deliverables.

Data Collection and Validation: Carry out relevant data collection, cleaning, aggregation, organization, presentation, and validation

Template creation for model Input/Output: Setting templates to systematically input or output data to/from models developed in PROMOD/Plexos.

Literature review: Studying publicly available documents to extract usable information for modeling purposes

Provide analytical support: Provide necessary analytical support/value addition/improvement to ongoing projects in the wholesale/ retail electricity markets

Software: Plexos, PROMOD, PyPSA, Python, Excel
- Relevant college degree or equivalent experience required. Masters/PhD Preferred.
- Managerial experience preferred.
- Experience with production cost models is required; Preference will be given to candidates with working knowledge/background with PLEXOS/PROMOD
- Knowledge of energy storage concepts including grid level storage, behind the meter storage, energy storage and battery technology, renewables pairing, and energy storage dispatch modeling preferred.
- Strong analytical/quantitative skills required
- Flexibility to accommodate US work required.
- Knowledge of US RTO/ISO markets and Indian power grid preferred.
- Strong verbal communication and presentation skills preferred
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively required
- Business development orientation preferred
