Primary Function of Position:

The Environmental Health & Safety Manager is responsible for the technical and organizational management of the EHS function of Intuitive Surgical EOOD. Working collaboratively, you will ensure EHS compliance at the Parvomay, Plovdiv Province, Bulgaria sites. 

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure safe and healthy workplace through the implementation of site specific EHS objectives to maximize the well-being of all employees and visitors.
  • Responsible for regulatory compliance and implementation of EHS processes and policies, taking into account current legislation and the implementation of processes for risk assessment, prevention and minimization.
  • Implement site specific EHS and sustainability policies, standards, rules, and practices which align with global policies.
  • Implement clear and measurable EHS targets and reporting system with internationally approved KPIs, aligned with ISO 14001 and 45001 requirements.
  • Investigate and determine root cause for all accidents and injuries to determine lessons learned and continuous improvement.
  • Identify and mitigate unsafe workplace conditions.  Initiate and execute ongoing risk assessments.
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure emergency preparedness and response plans.
  • Supervise occupational health and hazardous materials programs (purchase, use and elimination).
  • Define, execute, and monitor corrective actions using operational excellence methodologies.
  • Establish and maintain EHS documentation.
  • Driving environmental, health and safety initiatives including EHS training and audits.
  • Advise on construction, technical, organizational, and workplace and work environment design opportunities.
  • Assist with budget planning for EHS.
  • Align with global EHS team for all requested activities.
  • Report to the Director of EHS

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Completed studies and certifications in the field of environmental, health and safety management or comparable.
  • At least 8 years of professional experience in the areas of environmental, health and safety management; Ideally experience in the medical device industry.
  • Dedicated team player with a high sense of responsibility and demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Experience in the area of process improvement (Lean, CIP, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of MS office suite
  • Intercultural competence
  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
  • High level of communication skills and assertiveness
  • Strong written and spoken Bulgarian and English language skills.
  • Willingness to travel (worldwide, approx. 10%)
