Join the power movement as a Manager, Dock Operations
The Dock Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient, safe, and compliant operation of CFS loading docks across multiple sites, ensuring that all shipping and receiving activities are conducted efficiently. This role involves defining processes, rolling out best practices, managing staff, coordinating logistics, maintaining dock equipment, enforcing safety protocols, and ensuring proper cargo control and documentation. The manager must also address operational issues promptly and work collaboratively with various teams to optimize supply chain processes from material receipt to dispatch.
What you'll do:

Safety Compliance: Prioritize safety by enforcing all CFS Safety protocols, training staff, and maintaining a safe working environment to prevent accidents

Team Management: Lead, train, and motivate Logistics Coordinators, Logistics Leads, Material Handlers and Traffic Coordinators to perform their duties effectively. This includes building out the Dock Operations organization, conflict resolution, timecard approvals and performance management.

Operational Oversight: Manage all activities related to the loading and unloading of goods on the dock, ensuring efficient operation. Will also be in charge of dock best practices and layouts across multiple sites to ensure better flow of material.

Logistics Coordination: Work closely with logistics teams to track inbound shipments and schedule outbound deliveries and pickups, optimizing the use of time and space on the dock

Quality Assurance: Inspect cargo for visible damage to ensure quality standards and report any issues

Problem Solving: Quickly address and resolve issues that arise, such as shipment delays, damaged goods, or logistical errors, to keep operations running smoothly

Material Delivery & Flow: Effectively manage the delivery of materials to internal customers and drop-off locations. Set up efficient cross-docking flow to process materials quickly to their final destinations

Lean Process Development: Develop, document and execute dock operations processes to create effective flow of materials. Managing material traffic is a major priority of the dock manager, someone who understands and champions pull systems, lean methodologies and material flow will thrive.
What we’re looking for:
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 10+ years experience in supply chain and/or manufacturing, preferably logistics and/or dock operations
- 5+ years experience in a management role
- Manufacturing/shop floor environment experience
- Exceptional problem solving skills and an ability to collaborate cross functionally and influence stakeholders
- Strong communication skills
- Deep understanding of how to ensure teams adhere to safety protocols
- Ability to lead teams, motivate employees, and manage performance
- Understanding of logistics principles, including freight handling, storage, and distribution processes
- Ability to work collaboratively with various internal departments (e.g., inventory, production, engineering) and external partners
- Ability to analyze/leverage data to improve operations and increase efficiency of work
- Ability to thrive in an energetic and dynamic environment
- Knowledge of operating and maintaining loading dock equipment like forklifts, pallet jacks, and dock levelers
Bonus points for:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Experience in start-up or high growth environment
- Lean or 5S experience
Must-have requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Work in a facility that contains industrial hazards including heat, cold, noise, fumes, strong magnets, lead (Pb), high voltage, high current, pressure systems, and cryogenics
- Willingness to travel or work required nights/weekends/on-call occasionally
