Manager, Data and AI

At Valorem Reply, we are hiring a Manager for the Data & AI team mainly focused on building modern data platforms predominantly using Microsoft cloud technologies for our customers. Experience with ML/AI is strongly preferred but not required. The candidate will have previous manager experience and actively work alongside our delivery teams. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on technical skills across a breadth of data technologies, including those related to Microsoft and Databricks. As a technical leader, the person will assist with setting the technical direction of the practice and keep up to date with current trends in data-focused technology. Responsibilities
  • Assist in new business development and technical sales through the development of proposals, estimation, statements of work, and requests for proposals
  • Contributing to and overseeing the successful delivery of data platform, analytics, and data science projects while liaising with clients to meet their needs
  • Providing leadership, coaching, and mentorship to team members and supporting their professional development
  • Staying current on the latest trends and technologies while sharing expertise with colleagues, clients, and industry peers through speaking engagements, publications, and workshops
  • Technical evangelism, providing training, and establishing a learning culture within the team
  • Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field
  • 10 years of industry experience, with 4 most recent years as a hands-on manager leading a team on enterprise scale data platform projects
  • Expertise with Microsoft Azure infrastructure and data resources, including Microsoft Fabric, Azure Data Factory, Synapse Data Analytics, Power BI, Azure SQL, Azure Cosmos DB, Azure Database for PostgreSQL, Azure ML, Azure Data Explore, and Databricks on Azure.
  • Experience delivering end-to-end modern data platforms in Azure, including architecture/design, ingestion, storage strategies, analytics & reporting, Apache Spark, and networking requirements
  • Experience with Data governance, data security, and familiarity with different industry security requirements
  • Experience with Databricks, especially Unity Catalog, data warehousing and data sharing 
  • Ability to create working environments for data engineers and scientists and general knowledge of ML, AI, LLMs, and MLOps
  • The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and serve as a trusted partner to our customers.
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in a consulting role working directly with customers
  • Knowledge and familiarity with Microsoft Fabric and Purview, including migration or initial set-up
  • DevOps for data, GitHub, automated testing, and working with containers (AKS, Docker, registries, etc.)
  • Broad experience with data/reporting tools, architectures, cloud vendors, and data/AI concepts

    The base compensation range for this full-time position is between $150,000 – $180,000 plus benefits. Compensation decisions are supported through market data, where regional variances may exist based on cost of labor. We also take into consideration prior experience, relevant skills, education and/or training, certifications and as applicable, other required qualifications.
