Manager, Corporate Applications & Analytics

POSITION PURPOSE:
The Manager, Corporate Applications and Analytics has a significant role in the analysis, development, and implementation of major systems.  This role will align closely with Corporate Accounting, FP&A, and IT management to identify business application requirements, design, implement, test and support financial systems and reporting.  Primary responsibilities will entail stewardship of CIM’s proprietary labor allocations platform and all corporate solution engineering efforts.  Additionally, the role is expected to augment reporting and analytics capabilities via competence in business intelligence platforms and integration technologies.  A successful candidate for this role will have relevant business analyst or product ownership experience with investment management firms and experience in a client-facing role.  

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Acts as a liaison between the Business and Technology to identify and implement application systems supporting various departments.
  • Works closely with business stakeholders to identify business process issues in combination with technology optimization.  Defines technology solutions that maximize efficiency and align with corporate data governance standards and technology and business roadmaps.
  • Documents specific business application requirements for complex and changing business needs.
  • Develops a deep understanding of Real Estate finance and associated business drivers.  Performs business analysis through compiling and analyzing data in alignment with project goals.
  • Performs project management responsibilities on cross-functional projects, including project management reporting, risk and issue log maintenance, in addition to business analyst duties of framing requirements and design specifications.
  • Works with the Application Development team and takes ownership over solution delivery. Test systems, creates reports, and handles upgrades for existing software or migrations to new platforms.
  • Ensures smooth everyday running of assigned technology platforms, monitoring that SLAs are met and that quality targets are reached and maintained.
  • Takes a proactive approach in trying to assess system utilization from user perspective and generate solutions even before the issues are raised by the end-users.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Management responsibilities may expand over time as corporate systems IT team expands.  Management responsibilities would include setting professional milestones, performing performance reviews, and mentoring staff towards achievement of departmental goals.  Matrixed management input of shared services resources expected as aligned to project delivery in collaboration with other IT managers. 
  • Responsible for vendor management including, but not limited to, evaluation, selection, oversight of work deliverables, budget and expense management.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: (including certification, licenses, etc.)

  • Bachelor’s Degree and related work experience required. 
  • 4+ years’ experience with enterprise class software implementation delivery in a project management, product owner, or business analyst role. 
  • Dynamic and adaptive in understanding complex financial and technical concepts.  Knowledge of accounting and business process in real estate or alternative asset / investment management.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and ability to interact professionally with a diverse group: executives, managers, subject matter experts, and software developers.
  • Excellent in interpreting needs, absorbing statistics from 360-view, devising short/long-term goals and roadmaps, and driving results.
  • Demonstrated understanding of Project Management Methodology (PMM) fundamentals and business process analysis

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:

  • Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree with Finance or Technology concentration.
  • 2+ years of experience in a consulting environment with responsibilities to develop and present final client deliverables.
  • Project Management Institute (PMI) certification (PMP, PMI-PBA).
  • Experience with real estate ERPs (Yardi, MRI) preferred. 
  • Understanding of investment management fund and partnership accounting and performance reporting dynamics such as allocation, IRRs, and waterfalls.
  • 2+ years’ experience with business planning software platforms (i.e. Workday Adaptive Planning, Anaplan, Oracle Hyperion Planning, Oracle EPM). 
  • General understanding of systems requirements in satisfying regulatory compliance (SOX, SOC1, SOC2) and IT general controls.     
  • Experience with NCREIF reporting standards, Yardi Investment Management suite including Investment Accounting, Investor Plus, and Performance modules a plus. 

TECHNICAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Demonstrated working knowledge in Microsoft SQL Server/ T-SQL, data modeling, and BI/Analytics tools (PowerBI, Tableau).  Able to construct queries in a timely manner for analysis, integrations, and report building.
  • Strong understanding of technical integration mediums (SFTP/flat file, APIs (REST, SOAP)).
  • Extensive understanding of DAX and data models in PowerBI, extending source system data via custom calculated columns, including experience designing and publishing data models for widespread use. 
  • Experience with OLAP cubes and multi-dimensional models a plus.
  • Proficient and comfortable with advanced Excel models and array-based formulae such as XLOOKUP, INDEX(MATCH), and condition-based aggregations (SUMIFS, COUNTIFS, SUMPRODUCT).
  • Experience with agile project management tools (Jira/Confluence, Azure DevOps, Asana, etc) using DevOps principles.

Actual base salary considers several factors including but not limited to geography, job-related knowledge, experience, and budget. The start of the salary range is typically associated with the minimum experience required. At CIM, base pay is one part of the total compensation package. This role is eligible for bonus pay in addition to base salary. The anticipated base salary range for the position in Los Angeles is $135,000 - $185,000.
