We are actively seeking a Business Development Manager to lead and drive partnership initiatives within our Consumer Business Development team. In this role, you will be responsible for the strategic evaluation, definition, and negotiation of new partnerships and partner programs. 

Your primary focus will be content partnerships with key players in the news & media space, including publishers, podcasters and video creators. You’ll be tasked with leading existing programs focused on audio and video partnerships, as well as identifying and establishing new opportunities and pathways to support our mission to connect the world’s professionals.

This individual will have the opportunity to be a key member of a team that drives growth, engagement, and revenue via identifying, executing, and managing content partnerships and strategic initiatives. You should be comfortable and have experience collaborating cross-functionally to drive results, including working across Editorial, Product, Legal, Marketing, Sales, Engineering and Finance. The ideal candidate is passionate about LinkedIn’s vision, can develop a deep understanding of LinkedIn’s products and services, and is both proactive and results-oriented.

This person should have experience in building & leading end-to-end partner & program management, with preferred experience in news/media content partnerships. A deep understanding of the rapidly evolving podcast and video landscape is a must, including content strategy, monetization, partnership models and creator tools. You should be familiar with key players and business models across the podcast and video industry, as well as the creator ecosystem more broadly. 

Tasks will include evaluation and execution of strategic partnership opportunities, informing content acquisition strategy, driving growth for existing audio and video initiatives, managing day-to-day relationships with partners, tracking program performance and sharing ecosystem insights to inform key decisions. An ability to understand legal contracts and negotiate deals with partners is critical, as you’ll work closely with legal to draft/finalize agreements that drive value for both our partners and LinkedIn. These partnerships will focus on increasing the value we bring to Members to ensure they are connected to knowledge and information that is relevant to their professional lives. Strong written and verbal communication to drive alignment with key stakeholders on strategy, vision and goals is required. 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead partner and program management for creators and publishers
  • Proactively identify and evaluate new partnership opportunities for LinkedIn, specifically focused on video and podcasts
  • Manage partner relationships on a daily basis
  • Gather and share ecosystem insights and competitive analysis to inform program strategy
  • Stay up to date on trends, competitive landscape, and emerging technologies to inform product strategy and identify opportunities to drive increased value for our publisher and creator partners 
  • Synthesize deal concepts into term sheets and contracts, work closely with legal to draft agreements for partnerships and/or programs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including editorial, product, legal, marketing, and sales, to deliver on partnerships
  • Track progress of existing partnerships, provide frequent written and verbal updates, and implement tracking and reporting for partner metrics
  • Make decisions (or present a recommendation) to drive highly complex projects while overcoming challenges of managing multiple cross-functional stakeholders
     

Basic Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of work experience in business development, content partnerships, media/digital strategy
  • Experience delivering strategic solutions to complicated challenges through providing recommendations and scalable action plans

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MBA degree
  • Personal interest in the news/media space
  • Experience in media/content partnerships and audience development
  • Understanding of the broader tech and media landscape, including publishers, creators, podcasters and the existing partnership models that exist
  • Familiarity with key players and business models across the podcast industry and social video landscape. Includes understanding of content strategy, monetization and creator tools. 
  • Highly accountable, proactive and solution-oriented
  • Experience with deal development - ability to understand legal contracts and negotiate deals with partners. Negotiation skills and experience working with Legal and cross-functional teams to finalize partnership agreements
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally and building consensus among multiple stakeholders
  • Proven track record of developing and executing strategies, programs, and partnerships that deliver value to partners
  • Strong written and verbal communication, able to talk internally and externally about the value you’re driving through programs and partnerships
  • Strong financial analysis, modeling, and business skills. Ability to leverage data analysis and insights to develop compelling business cases
  • Experience in project management, with a proven ability to bring structure and organization to new or existing complex projects
  • Ability to effectively manage time, prioritize tasks, and work within deadlines with little supervision
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, startup environment
  • Expert knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel)

LinkedIn is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. 

The pay range for this role is $138,000 to $225,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
