Manager, Applications Lab

Twist is seeking a highly motivated individual to help support its customers and their Next Generation Sequencing needs. This individual will work closely with Sales, R&D, Field Applications, and Customer Support teams to help develop solutions for various sequencing applications. The applications lab manager will be responsible for leading a team of scientist to help accelerate the productivity and growth of our customer base by performing in house experiments with the Twist product line. The applications lab team will be primarily responsible for providing scientific and technical expertise when performing experimental services to support sales of the Twist NGS product lines to customers and internal users.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and develop a team at the forefront of NGS technology at Twist, to create and support technological solutions for commercial application
• Collaborates at the center of a cross functional organization with commercial, customer support, sales, and R&D teams
• Execution of all aspects of NGS workflows including experimental design, sample preparation, sequencing, and data analysis for numerous fields of research and applications
• Assemble and communicate concise technical reports and presentations for both internal teams and external customers
• Create and maintain key relationships with new and existing customers at multiple organizational levels
• Effectively analyze data to generate KPIs and communicate recommendations on resourcing to Twist leadership
• Demonstrates effective communication style working with all levels of organizational structure, through multiple departments, and across global sites.
• Effectively influences and trains employees

Qualifications

• B.S./M.S. in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Chemistry or a closely related field
• 5+ years of relevant experience in the field of molecular biology
• 1+ years of experience in leading a molecular biology team
• Must have strong background in molecular biology techniques including DNA purification, DNA quantification, PCR/qPCR/dPCR and enzymatic assays
• Direct experience with NGS technologies
• High attention to detail, very organized
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment
• Self-motivated and passionate
