The Management Accountant is to take ownership of their allocated entities and subsequent reporting within the deadlines set, while being supported by the Senior Management Accountant. Ensuring that information provided to the Business Line Financial Controllers (BLFC) and Head of Management Accounts is accurate and any variances justified.
This role will have a heavy focus on excel, especially in relation to inventory and the analysis of monthly activity to budgets, forecasts and month on month variances. It is therefore key that you can demonstrate having attention to detail and ability to discuss variances sufficiently and promptly with other members of the business.

Requirements
Management Accounts Preparation, analysis and Control:
- Prepare and post prepayments, accruals, depreciation, and amortisation
- Take ownership of your allocated entities’ monthly management accounts and reporting packs submissions
- Calculate and validate the monthly inventory valuation, ensuring this agreed back to the inventory system
- Investigate inventory variances through to resolution timely, engaging with the business to reduce repeat of issue
- Review the P&L for activity performed by others and seek justification for any variances
- Provide detailed revenue and costs variance analysis and information to BLFC and other budget holders
- Ability to provide detailed excel spreadsheet analysis as and when required
- Continuously ensure balance sheet working files are updated accordingly throughout the month end process
- Deliver the provision of accurate Divisional and Group reporting and analysis
- Complete Risk and Opportunities for BLFC sign off before submission
- Submit balance sheet analysis and commentary to understand areas of concern and solutions
- Produce the balance sheet control file with supporting back up in preparation for monthly sign off
- Ability to remain focused and meet all reporting deadlines.
Ad Hoc Supportive Tasks:
- Responsible for financial year end audit packs and liaising with auditors to ensure deliverables are met
- Provide all information to Group in relation to statutory reporting and review of draft statutory accounts
- Support the budgeting / forecasting process, by providing information and analysis
- Improve timing, content and accuracy of both financial and management reporting
- Maintain procedure and process documents, while seeking continuous improvements
- Other ad hoc duties as required.
Key Performance Indicators
- Management accounts to be produced within a specific timeframe (currently 8 Working days)
- Balance sheet reconciliations to be accurate and completed within 8 days of the month end
- Board packs to be completed within a specific timeframe (currently 8 Working days).
Key Skills / Qualifications
- Qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA) with 2 years management accounts experience gained in industry.
- Excel skill must be at intermediate level or above
- Questions and where appropriate challenges the status quo to ensure continuous improvement.
- Strong organisational and analytical skills
- Able to demonstrate flexibility by adapting work in line with changing priorities.
- Demonstrates team workings and willingness to help others.
- Knowledge of Sage 200 an advantage
