JOB TITLE: Mall Cleaner
LOCATION: The Forge Shopping Centre, Glasgow
WORKING HOURS: 24 hours per week, Rolling rota, working weekends
PAY RATE: £11.58 per hour
The Mall Cleaner is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, hygiene, and overall appearance of the mall premises, ensuring a clean and pleasant environment for shoppers and visitors. This role involves daily cleaning tasks, waste management, and collaborating with other maintenance staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cleaning and Maintenance:
- Sweep, mop, floors in all common areas, corridors, and entrances.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, including sinks, toilets, mirrors, and floors.
- Dust furniture, fixtures in common areas.
- Empty trash bins and ensure proper disposal of waste materials.
- Clean windows, glass doors, and mirrors.
- Maintain cleanliness of elevators and escalators.
- Spot clean walls, doors, and other surfaces as necessary.
- Respond promptly to spills, stains, or any urgent cleaning needs.
- Empty waste containers regularly and dispose of trash in designated areas.
- Ensure proper separation and disposal of recyclable materials.
- Use cleaning supplies and equipment safely and in accordance with company guidelines.
- Follow all health and safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Report any maintenance or safety issues to the management team.
- Assist mall visitors with directions or information when necessary.
- Maintain a friendly and approachable demeanour with the public.
- Participate in periodic deep cleaning activities.
- Assist with set-up and cleanup during special events or promotions.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience in cleaning or janitorial services preferred.
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment (Cloths, mops, etc.).
- Basic understanding of cleaning products and their safe usage.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness.
- Good physical condition: ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs.
Work Environment:
- Requires working early mornings, late evenings, weekends, and holidays, depending on the mall’s operating hours.
- Indoor and outdoor work, depending on mall layout.
