ONLY CURRENT CONTINENTAL EMPLOYEES AT THE NORFOLK NEBRASKA PLANT WILL BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS POSITION. 

JOB DESCRIPTION:

Current Norfolk Continental associates will enroll in the Electromechanical Technology class at NECC for the two year course for up to 16 hours per week, (hours will be paid by the company) and to perform a variety of duties involved in the installation, alterations, maintenance, development and repair of plant machinery, equipment, facilities, and structures. Associate will be required to attend classes & absences will be counted against attendance. Upon completion of classes Associate must obtain a passing grade & will be required to work 24 months in our maintenance department after graduation or will be required to pay back tuition cost & return tools to Continental or will be required to pay back tuition costs & return tools to Continental.  Selected Associate will be paid $1 less than current wage.

JOB EXPECTATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, repair, and maintain a variety of mechanical, electrical, and manufacturing equipment and machinery
  • Set up and operate machining tools such as engine lathe, milling machine, drill press, grinders, alter or construct replacement parts, recondition production tooling
  • Maintain plant plumbing, heating, cooling, and related facilities, and equipment
  • Read and understand electrical diagrams and blueprints
  • Knowledge of PLCS, electronic and mechanical systems
  • Basic knowledge of pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Identify and resolve problems before they become costly and unmanageable
  • Welding, fabrication, and machining skills
  • Knowledge and utilization of lean manufacturing tools
  • Self-motivated with high energy
  • Value teamwork and the skills necessary to be an effective team member
  • Passion for quality workmanship
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Required to maintain certifications of plant safety and housekeeping practices
  • Other duties as necessary

Hours:

  • Classes will begin August of 2025
  • Assigned to a team until school starts & will rotate 
  • During School 24 hrs class time, 16 working straight days. 
  • When no school 40 hours working with a team

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Technical training and personal development are a plus
  • Not be in positive counseling 
  • Performance rating of a 6 or above on the last performance review 
  • Satisfactory attendance in the past 12 months 
  • Hands-on experience in a maintenance or mechanical capacity
  • Experience in a fast paced environment, with constant changing priorities and customer demands
  • Industrial electrician experience is desired
