WinnCompanies is looking for a thorough and dedicated Maintenance Technician I to join our team at Congressman George W. Collins Apartments, a 195-unit residential community located in Chicago, IL.

In this role, you will perform maintenance functions in the community, including rental units, residential common areas, office, grounds and parking lots. This job requires a highly diversified base of knowledge and skills needed to maintain the property to satisfy ownership and management objectives.

The work schedule consists of Monday through Friday, 7am-3:30pm with a rotated on-call schedule. Please note that this is a union position and will eligible for benefits provided by the union.

Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs in such areas as, but not limited to, appliances, carpentry, hardware accessories, masonry, painting and basic electrical, plumbing and HVAC.
  • Complete assigned service requests and repairs consistent with company operating procedures.
  • Assist in preparing vacant apartments for market ready status in accordance to company standards.
  • Maintain grounds and curb appeal through snow removal, landscaping and trash management activities.
  • Be available for on call activity during off hours and emergencies based on a pre-determined schedule and need.

Requirements

  • Less than 1 year of relevant work experience.
  • General knowledge of electrical, plumbing, appliances, HVAC.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A current driver's license in good standing and ability to meet the driving records standards outlined in the Company Safe Vehicular Operations Policy. 
  • Ability to understand spoken and written English.
  • Ability to respond to requests in a timely and respectful manner.
  • Excellent customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Vocational or Technical training.
