Maintenance Supervisor (Curing/FF) (Internal only)

In this role you will be responsible for supervision and coordination of Multi craft technicians on shift in the Curing and Final Finish area. You will be responsible for escalation/handover/coordination with Production during shifts, monitoring and coordinating overtime costs/PTO/time tracking, spare part costs, and monitoring PM programs and schedules with the PM coordination team. This position will report to the Maintenance Area Lead.

Core Responsibilities:

Assists Maintenance Area Leader in the management of the Area Maintenance department. will be responsible for supervision and coordination of Multi craft technicians on shifts.

• Collect and assign maintenance best practices for consistency across all shifts.

• Partner with team to address hands-on maintenance activities as required.

• Ensures a proper diagnostic of mechanical problems, repair, and restart of production machineries of the area of responsibility in case of breakdowns.

• Ensures the implementation of the local Maintenance strategy (including TPM implementation support, maintenance processes improvements including SAP PM, interfaces with other departments, condition monitoring tools implementation, ….).

• Ensures Environment, Safety and Health requirement fulfillment in the area of responsibility. Informs and insures involvement of area Maintenance employees on ESH issues.

• Identifies, analyses, and ensures the implementation of potential mechanical improvements (including costs savings) on area production machineries in cooperation with other departments (Production, Quality, Purchasing)

• Maintains professional and technical electrical / mechanical / pneumatical / hydraulical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications.

• Maintain an updated mechanical documentation in the area (AutoCAD plans, electrical, mechanical, pneumatical, hydraulical drawings, ...)

• Manage and Lead the Multi Craft technicians to reduce equipment downtime and increase time to failure

• Make decisions on the best course of action in regards to equipment down time and scheduling the multi craft according to PM’s and down equipment

• Promote and monitor Safety throughout and your area and in the plant

• Promote and train TPM/PM concepts and effective problem solving (CBS, 5 why, Clean, Inspect, Repair)

• Mentor and train (or request training) as necessary, to ensure the team is capable and effective in maintenance and repair of equipment

• Manage performance of maintenance team and address deficiencies when necessary

• Monitor and ensure execution of PM tasks, follow up on completion and quality of work

• Document attendance, vacations, etc. and perform other administrative functions for the maintenance team

• Collect and assign maintenance best practices for consistency across all shifts

• Partner with team to address hands-on maintenance activities as required

• Use of maintenance analytical tools (Power BI, PUMA, SAP PM) to support reliability improvement and cost management

• Ability and willingness to monitor production equipment across the plant to allow early intervention when maintenance issues arise, and assign appropriate personnel to address with optimum efficiency

• Ability and willingness to mentor maintenance team with respect to potential training needs on an ongoing basis

• Ability and willingness to promote team concepts and cohesion within the team

• Participation in machine improvement, refurbishment, upgrade or installation projects

• Other duties as assigned.

Basic Qualifications:

• HS Diploma or GED

• 10 years’ experience in maintenance with a minimum of 3 years in supervision

• Current Continental Tire Sumter employee

• Have flexibility to adjust work schedule to meet maintenance and production needs

• Strong technical ­ pneumatic, hydraulic and mechanical knowledge skills combined with the ability to innovate and propose the right solutions with good technical acumen

• Intermediate Computer Skills ­ Microsoft Office and SAP PM

• Project Management experience and working with external suppliers

• Fluent in English (spoken and written)

• Broad technical background to include knowledge of production mechanical, pneumatic, PLC, electrical, hydraulic, electronic devices, machining/grinding, and familiarity with appropriate maintenance/repair procedures


Preferred Requirements:

• Associates or Bachelors’ degree in in a technical based field

• SAP experience a plus

• Specific Curing and Final Finish area experience

•4+ years Manufacturing Experience / 1 year of Continental Plant experience preferred

• International team ­business experience
