Taboola, the world’s largest content recommendation platform, is hiring a Machine Learning Team Leader in Taipei.

At Taboola, we currently work in a hybrid work model giving employees the flexibility to work from home a few days a week. 

What is the key purpose of an Machine Learning Team Lead? You will lead an algorithm engineering team, leveraging advanced deep learning technologies to develop and maintain world-class data-powered products and services. Collaborating with various departments, you will translate product requirements into effective Machine Learning solutions, explore optimization opportunities, and drive continuous improvement. While our main focus is on recommendation systems, it extends beyond that scope.

What are some of the things you do on a day-to-day basis?

• Influence directly the way billions of people discover the internet
• Lead a team of professionals that will lead innovative solutions to new products in Taboola
• Be responsible for the entire machine learning life-cycle in the company: staying up to date with academic advancements, prototyping of new ideas, and implementing machine and deep learning based algorithms in a high scale production environment
• Be responsible for the career growth of employees in your team 
• Actively participate in the development process working closely with all stakeholders
• Get exposed to new technologies and utilize them to construct and improve scalable production-grade solutions that impact the business
• Be part of the algorithmic management team which is in charge of our growth and defining our development practices 
• Apply your scientific knowledge and creativity to analyze large volumes of diverse data and develop algorithms to solve complex problems

What are the skills a good Machine Learning Team Leader in Machine Learning Group needs to have? 

• M.Sc. (PhD. a plus) in Computer Science, Mathematics, Engineering or a related field
• 2+ years of experience in managing research, data science or engineering teams with good interpersonal skills
• 4+ years of work experience in developing end-to-end data science solutions and pipelines as a leader or major contributor
• Great problem solving and critical thinking abilities
• Positive attitude and high communication abilities
• Ability to mentor and give constructive feedback to their team members, that will help them achieve their career goals
• Ability to make solid decisions based on the availability of resources and technical difficulty of the tasks

It would be great if you also have: 

• Experience in developing models using deep learning techniques and tools
• Experience in developing software within a distributed computation framework
