About the Role
The Marketplace Relevance team builds Artificially Intelligent systems and algorithms that power Houzz search, recommendation, and personalization. As a Machine Learning Engineer at Houzz, you will work at the forefront of innovation, leveraging machine learning and artificial intelligence to drive business growth and customer satisfaction.
We are looking for someone who is self-directed, independent, has experience improving consumer facing relevance problems, and passionate about delivering the best solution with attention to details.
Our tech stack includes Python, Java, Golang, SQL, Elasticsearch/Solr, Redis and more. Your work will directly impact millions of users around the world. This is a unique opportunity to work in a start-up environment with the backing of a larger organization.
What You’ll Do
- Take high level production problems, come up with technical solutions and drive the project from planning to production.
- Work closely with other team members to help building shared systems
- Work cross-functionally across engineering, product, and design teams
At a Minimum, We’d Like You to Have
- Proven experience applying machine learning to build systems such as Search, Recommendation, Advertising, etc., with a track record of developing and deploying machine learning models in production.
- Solid understanding of data preprocessing, feature engineering, and model evaluation techniques.
- A deep understanding of business results and drivers - and associated approaches to drive impact along with a strong drive to influence business decisions and metrics.
- Ability to effectively work with business leads: strong communication skills, ability to take output of experiments, data models and expert intuition and synthesize them into conclusions for non-experts
- Solid coding skills in a common programming language such as Python, Go, Java, C++
- Independence, self-motivation and the drive to get stuff done
- M.S., B.S. or Ph.D. (preferred) in Computer Science or related engineering disciplines
- 3+ years full-time relevant industry experience
Ideally, You'll Also Have
- Experience with popular machine learning / deep learning frameworks (Tensorflow, Pytorch, GBDT)
- Experience developing consumer facing features for millions of consumers
- Independence, self-direction and experience owning complete products and features
- Comfort working on fast paced, data-driven projects
- 5+ years experience
