The impact you'll make

As a Machine Learning Engineer working with the personalization team of Canada’s largest grocery retailer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing machine learning models and algorithms to enhance customer experiences and drive business growth. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, data scientists, and software engineers to deliver innovative solutions that cater to individual customer preferences.

What you'll do

  • Algorithm Productionisation: Collaborate with the enterprise Data Science team to design and implement machine learning algorithms and models to create personalized recommendations, product suggestions, and tailored shopping experiences. 
  • Google Cloud Platform Expertise: Utilize Google Cloud Platform (GCP) services and tools to build scalable and efficient machine learning solutions. Leverage GCP products like BigQuery, AI Platform, and Dataflow to process and analyze large datasets.
  • Model Deployment and Monitoring: Deploy machine learning models as web services to production environment and implement monitoring systems to ensure model performance and accuracy over time.
  • Data Processing and Feature Engineering: Work on preprocessing pipelines, feature engineering, and data augmentation to ensure high-quality input for machine learning models.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with data scientists, product managers, and software engineers to understand business requirements and translate them into effective machine learning solutions.
  • Evaluation and Optimization: Continuously evaluate model performance, iterate on existing models, and optimize algorithms for improved accuracy and efficiency.
  • Documentation: Document code, models, and processes effectively for knowledge sharing and future reference.
  • Stay Current: Stay abreast of the latest advancements in machine learning, personalization, and retail technology to bring innovative ideas and best practices to the team.

What you'll need

  • Master's or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a STEM field
  • Experience with taking Machine Learning projects to production
  • Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, and experience with relevant libraries and frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, XGBoost, Scikit-Learn)
  • Hands-on experience deploying and maintaining web-services to serve Machine Learning solutions
  • Extensive experience working with Google Cloud Platform and its data processing & ML components
  • Solid understanding of Propensity Score Modeling, Market Mix Modeling, Collaborative Filtering
  • Familiarity with large-scale data processing, distributed computing, and cloud-based data solutions
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work in a cross-functional team environment
