This role involves the management, collection and quality control of all forms of data and data structures that make up the Australian Defence Force’s (ADF) Vital Planning and Analysis (VIPA) suite of logistics planning tools. The management of data and information in all its forms and the analysis of information structures (including logical analysis of taxonomies, data and metadata) is paramount to being successful in this role. The role requires extensive stakeholder engagement and management across the Defence enterprise.
Duties include:
- Analyse current data holdings and reference documents using guidelines to identify deficiencies in content and quality
- Prioritise tasks according to information requirements and user direction, and de-conflict activities with other staff
- Plan data management activities, incorporating information needs and priorities, client schedules and travel requirements
- Maintain a work schedule and forecast activities
- Identify authoritative sources for Defence data that meet content and quality standards
- Establish and maintain relationships with ADF stakeholders
- Liaise with ADF stakeholders to identify, collect and validate data
- Advise ADF stakeholders about data quality standards
- Upload data to databases using systems and processes that optimise quality
- Validate data with subject matter expert support
- Create and maintain accurate records in Objective
- Prepare reports for executive and project teams
- Deliver pre-packaged one-on-one training to stakeholders
Candidates must be Australian Citizens and hold a current NV-1 or greater AGSVA security clearance.

- Can easily communicate with colleagues across multiple areas (Leidos team, Defence Subject Matter Experts of all ranks, other technical resources)
- Understands the complexities involved in handling and managing Defence logistics data
- Ability to work alone and as part of a team
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Knowledge:
- Good general knowledge and interest in ADF structures, capabilities and equipment
- Ability to apply standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques in a technical domain
- Ability to identify and assess risks associated with changes in business processes, business rules and requirements
- Experience with the VIPA application would be advantageous
Experience:
- Former member of the Australian Defence Force (mandatory)
- Experience in Defence logistics (desirable)
- Experience with Joint military planning and operations (desirable)
