At LinkedIn Learning, the Live Action Director is responsible for directing and editing live-action content. While directing will be the primary focus, video editing is also an integral part of this role. The director is responsible for the conditions in the Live Action Stage, maintaining the environment, and fostering a collaborative nature during production on set with the crew and the onscreen talent. This includes managing set recording crew operations, collaborating with content producers and post-production teams for course content, marketing/promotional videos, and other live-action projects as required. This role requires a hybrid work option, meaning you can both work from home and commute to a LinkedIn office as needed.
Responsibilities:
Partner with content producers or necessary teams to align on the vision and requirements for courses, marketing, and/or promotional content.
Participate in pre-production activities, including reviewing and providing feedback on author scripts and ensuring necessary equipment and resources are ready.
Develop a production strategy for recording on set, including instructions for lighting, camera, and other requirements.
Direct the instructor/talent on set, providing positive and constructive feedback, mentoring, and coaching to ensure an authentic delivery.
Lead on-set production teams to ensure all aspects of the shoot represent the vision and requirements of the course while maintaining intended scope.
Maintain a conducive environment in the Live Action Stage, fostering effective collaboration during production on set with the crew and onscreen talent.
Collaborate with the training producer and production team to document all aspects of the shoot during production for clear communication to editors.
Review work with senior directors to improve and grow skills continually.
Direct complex, multi-camera, studio, or location shoots, handling both technical and aesthetic aspects as needed.
Maintain and support original scope of the project throughout the production process
Lead the editing of LinkedIn Learning courses, ensuring high-quality standards, and optimum end-user experience as needed.
Ensure content is edited and released timely and efficiently.
Manage multiple high-visibility projects simultaneously during various stages of production and post-production.
Communicate clearly and effectively with key stakeholders to ensure successful handoffs throughout the production and post-production process.
Establish and promote solid communication within the Global Content Production team for continuous learning and development.
Perform color grading on inconsistent live footage
Basic Qualifications:
Minimum of 4 years of experience in video production and over 4 years of professional experience in digital post-production editorial work.
Expert level proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud Applications: Premiere Pro, After Effects, Media Encoder
Business fluency in Japanese and English
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in video, film, or multimedia production.
Advanced leadership, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Advanced knowledge of video lighting setups, grip gear, and terminology.
Ability to take ownership of a project from concept to delivery.
Strong computer skills, including operating systems, troubleshooting, and basic networking knowledge.
Applied experience of video formats and encoding tools.
Expert project management for multiple ongoing projects.
Experience using Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Media Encoder, and other Adobe Creative Suite tools.
Strong professional written and verbal communication skills.
Robust solution-oriented problem-solving skills.
Experience with color management tools, MOGRTS, Frame.IO, Box, Office 365, and project management applications.
Ability to work and communicate effectively within a team while working independently with minimal supervision.
Passion for learning and technical acumen in video editing.
Strong narrative audio pacing, music implementation, and a sense of story.
Curiosity and agency to innovate and ask why, ensuring alignment with instructional design principles.
Ability to manage multiple projects with excellent organization and openness to feedback.
