The lighting will work next to Art direction and art teams to provide lighting solution to environments as well as characters and other important assets. With big impact on performance and gameplay, the lighting artist will also have be responsible for lighting optimizations as well as working with level designers to ensure the best gameplay experience.
Responsibilities:
- To create lighting for game environments in line with company’s quality and functionality requirements, while in coordination with art direction, art teams and Level design.
- To create lighting for menus as well as for character showcase and other important game assets.
- Proactively check environment art progression to early find spots which can be useful for lighting work and sync with artists.
- To place and maintain all the technical lighting elements in the environments (probes etc).
- To be responsible for lighting optimization, defining alternatives which work on lower end platforms when required, as well as bug fixing.
- To create the meshes and textures required to fulfill lighting needs.
- Proactively looking for improvements in both, workflow and techniques.
Requirements:
- +3 years of experience in video game production with a track record of shipped projects on which there is a clear input in final lighting.
- Very good Technical knowledge about how real-time and pre-rendered lighting solutions works in videogames.
- Skilled at creating artistically pleasant, high quality lighting for any situation.
- Basic 3D modeling/texturing skills.
- Ability to generate realistic, high quality skybox textures using 3d or specialized software.
- Basic visual arts knowledge (composition, contrast, color…)
- Very communicative, team player, always in contact with other stakeholders.
- Organized and consistent working methodology.
Assets:
- Comprehension of the technical budgets of game development, and optimization techniques
- Previous experience as environment artist is a plus.
- Experience in character and or car lighting is a plus.
