Slate is looking for a Lifecycle Marketing Manager to join our subscriptions team. In this role, you will help us significantly expand and improve our Slate Plus subscriptions business by developing and executing marketing strategies that help build loyalty among readers and convert them into subscribers, with a particular focus on acquisitions but an eye on retention and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
- Reports to Director of Subscriptions
- Creates and optimizes impactful acquisition programs by supporting a well-defined overarching lifecycle marketing strategy that includes product, messaging, pricing approaches, channels, and user segmentation
- Builds, tests, and executes campaigns for acquisition, onboarding, retention, and engagement
- Regularly monitors and reports on campaign performance, identifying tactics necessary to meet goals
- Informs and uses tools to measure and forecast churn, retention, and subscription conversion performance in partnership with the analytics team
- Understands and advises on optimization of media strategies across channels, including SEM, on high-value segments focused on improving overall impact on the business
- Builds and presents comprehensive strategy presentations and yearly business model projections, including start and stop volume goals, working closely with finance and business leadership
- Develops and executes testing roadmaps with various teams that evolve automation flows, segmentation, messaging, and pricing
- Drives the subscriptions marketing and promo calendar, messaging, audience selection, and analysis/key insights for our existing users
- Collaborates with Editorial and Audience Engagement to develop newsletter initiatives for both subscribers and nonsubscribers with a focus on driving engagement and improving retention
- Works closely with Creative team to develop assets for various marketing channels, including email, paid media, onsite assets, and copy
Minimum Qualifications
- 8+ years of experience owning multi-channel, integrated campaigns from A to Z
- Track record of improving conversion rates, using data to inform decisionmaking
- Proven capability to handle campaigns from strategy through execution
- Experience in integrated marketing, email marketing, content marketing, lead nurturing, and/or traditional marketing channels
- Experience overseeing agencies helping with Paid Search, Paid Social, and SEO
- Demonstrable understanding of Google Ads, analytics software (Google Analytics, Amplitude or similar), Facebook/Instagram, LinkedIn, and Search Engine Optimization
- Experience presenting to executive leaders, board members, and a variety of internal and external audiences
- An understanding of what makes Slate’s work distinctive and a desire to connect that to paying membership
- Experience working with subscription or membership programs is a plus, but not required
