Licensed Practical Nurse

The Role

• Immunize according to AHS Immunization Recommendations (conduct  Immunization Programs for Health and Public Safety students and conduct annual Influenza clinic for staff and students)
• Make front line judgments to treat or refer to physician any illnesses or accidents (occupational or non-occupational) on campus
• Respond to appropriate campus emergencies and provide first aid treatments as needed for injuries and sudden onset of illness to staff, students and visitors on campus  
• Assume some secretarial duties when Administrative Support staff is not available on campus 
• answering phones
• making appointments
• Conduct various health screenings (physical/nursing assessments)
• Collect specimen/swabs (eg. throat, urine, PAP, vaginal), complete requisition forms and send as per Calgary Lab.  Services directives
• Assist in doctor’s clinic (when required)
• Collaborate with other health professionals in the care of SAIT students, staff, and visitors 
• Infection Control Maintenance (daily, weekly, monthly)

Qualifications

• Active CLPNA License from a recognized school of Nursing
• Licensed Practical Nurse with minimum 1-2 years’ experience (including immunization certification, with minimum 1-2 years’ experience)


• Training or Experience
• CPR and AED annual re-certification
• WHIMIS every year
• Licenses/Certificates
• CLPNA Registration, Immunization Certificate
• CPR and AED Certificate
