Under the direction of a Registered Pharmacist, and according to board regulations, the Licensed Pharmacy Intern performs any activities pertaining to the practice of pharmacy (Sec. 4114, Pharmacy Law).

- Performs all activities pertaining to the practice of pharmacy.
- Provides health care services in own job description for Neonates, Pediatrics, Adolescents, Adults and Geriatrics.
- Selects and labels medications and ensures all finished products are checked by a Registered Pharmacist before dispensing/delivering.
- Compounds all extemporaneous preparations as needed and completes all required documentation.
- Performs IVPB, LVP, PN rounds and prepares all parenteral products using aseptic technique.
- Maintains knowledge of the use of all drug information sources and provides drug information as requested.
- Assesses prescriptions for appropriateness and completeness.
- Counsels patients with each new prescription and when needed.
- Ensures the processing of prescriptions in a timely manner.
- Keeps informed of current California Pharmacy Law and DEA regulations.
- Fills/checks/replaces/delivers medications, Controlled Substances, floor stock, crash carts, and Automated Dispensing Machines, completes documentation as required.
- Assists pharmacists with PK dosing, monitoring and other aspects of patient monitoring, PBI projects and/or task forces as assigned.
- Checks in orders, shelves and returns medications accurately
