Inland Fisheries Ireland has an exciting new role for a Liaison Officer to join our team.
This role may be based at any of IFI’s regional offices; Citywest, Dublin / Clonmel, Tipperary / Macroom, Cork / Limerick City, Limerick / Galway City, Galway / Ballina, Mayo / Ballyshannon, Donegal.
Inland Fisheries Ireland is proud to offer a hybrid working model for this role which will typically consist of 2-days working remotely and 3-days working from the successful candidate's designated office, subject to business requirements and approval from line management.
This is an exciting role which will give the successful candidate exposure to national communication campaigns, and a wide variety of communications activities and functions. Duties will include work across media relations, social media, website, videography, photography, graphic design/branding, event planning, stakeholder engagement, public affairs, and communications administration

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Stakeholder Engagement
- Identify, develop and maintain contacts with individuals, agencies and professionals involved in the provision of barrier mitigation across Ireland
- Develop a communications plan for the NBMP.
- Help plan and prepare communications for events, public consultation projects initiatives, and national campaigns.
- Provide excellent customer service to stakeholders seeking information from, or participation with, IFI.
- Produce up-to-date communications and publicity materials.
- Chair and co-ordinate public events at which key IFI stakeholders will be present
Media Relations
- Liaise with internal IFI communications team on media relations matters
- Draft press releases for national and regional media.
- Issue press releases and manage the media contacts database.
- Coordinate media queries, following up with journalists and helping draft responses to media outlets in a timely and accurate fashion.
- Generate story ideas for media pitching.
- Assist with media monitoring functions.
- Assist with the coordination of media briefings.
- Help prepare IFI spokespersons ahead of interviews.
Digital Communications and Content Marketing
- Create and edit content for corporate websites.
- Create, edit, and curate compelling multimedia content for social media.
- Build and engage audiences on social media.
- Respond to information requests and information from members of the public via our social media platforms – LinkedIn, Twitter/X, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook, Meta
- Business Suite and more traditional communication methods e.g. phone, email, postal queries
- Compile metrics reports to track and evaluate analytics across all digital channels.
- Work with media buying and advertising contractors on digital campaigns.
Internal/External Communications
- Support internal communication efforts by supporting employee communications through a range of channels to ensure ease of access, clarity and consistency.
- Create content for different communications with employees, including newsletters, reports, filenotes, memos, staff intranet, email communications and briefing materials.
- Collaborate with IFI colleagues and management ensuring optimum staff communications for the national barrier mitigation team
- Provide information to landowners affected by the proposed mitigation works in relation to, inter alia, access requirements, proposed land take, proposed accommodation works, the statutory processes and legal agreements e.g. providing mapping and information produced by the NBMP
- Agree access to privately owned lands for IFI staff and contractors carrying out advance works and surveys (both intrusive and non-intrusive) as part of the proposals. Ensure adequate written notice is given to affected landowners.
- Make all reasonable enquiries to establish the identity of land owners where no reliable records exist (e.g. unregistered land)
- Act as the primary point of contact / intermediary in dealings between the contractors/affected landowners and stakeholders
Communication Administration Responsibilities
- Support the compilation of communication evaluation reports.
- Manage meeting logistics including diary management, meeting records, etc.
- Assess the accuracy of land ownership records held by IFI and confirm these records with individual landowners. Particular attention should be given to determining private rights-of-way and other burdens which may be affected by the proposals and communicate this to the project Title Research Officer.
- Undertake all other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned by either the Head of Barriers Mitigation, the Communications Manager and/or nominee.
