Legal Team Leader

  • The Team leader Works independently to provide legal support and legal opinions to Commercial Business Unit on all matters.
  • Oversee the day-to-day legal aspects of the business. This includes daily operation, commercial contracts, project management, intellectual property, and compliance services…. etc.
  • Lead compliance efforts, and risk management initiatives, with close interaction in the GCC and Middle East.
  • Act as a strategic partner in supporting the business and ensure provision of accurate, timely, and reliable legal advice.
  • Research and provide timely legal advice to all functions in relation to all corporate, civil, commercial, and labor law queries that are raised.
  • Proactively identify areas of opportunity and improvement in legal department processes and interface with the business and work with both the business and Control to ensure that appropriate processes are in place and are revisited and revised to meet business needs and challenges
  • Interface with Sector and Corporate functions on initiatives, reporting, and sharing best practices.
  • Lead, manage, and develop direct reports and contribute to the development of more junior team members.
  • Attend management meetings and audit committee meetings when required and provide legal support to functions during said meetings
  • Supporting Business Unit Control Environment Committee, on initiatives, investigations, speak ups, etc., as requested
  • Support Business Unit Senior Legal Manager in setting team strategy, and annual priorities and follow through on the implementation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Law is required. L.L.M is a plus.
  • 5-7+ years of legal experience, preferably in the Technology, Media, and Telecom industry. In which minimum 3 years of managing legal team.
  • Strong working knowledge of regulations in the Middle East, GCC and North Africa.
  • Knowledge of international standards of practice; ability to prioritize tasks based on business need.
  • Experience in corporate compliance regulations; experience in drafting reviewing and negotiating all kinds of contracts, and experience in dealing with suppliers, customers and different stakeholders are required.
  • Fluency in English and Arabic, French is a plus.
  • Ability to prioritize a large workload to meet business needs.
  • Ability to lead diverse teams across different geographic locations.
  • Ability to coordinate and collaborate across the BU and with regional and corporate functions.
  • Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
  • High integrity and business ethics.
  • Ability to anticipate contractual issues and plan for them in each contract, by questioning and analyzing date and information.
  • Leadership and negotiation capabilities.
