Nielsen is seeking an experienced IP Administrative Assistant to join its Intellectual Property Team on a permanent basis. The position will be located in the United States (specific location is flexible). The IP Admin will work alongside Nielsen’s intellectual property attorneys, patent agents, and paralegals to develop a world class patent and trademark portfolio that propels Nielsen’s business goals.
The IP Admin will work with Nielsen’s patent practitioners to arrange invention disclosure meetings, prepare assignments and declarations for inventor signature, obtain electronically-signed formal documents from inventors, upload and manage final documents for filing with the United States Patent and Trademark Office, prepare information disclosure statements and manage cross-citations of references cited, assist with managing invention and patent records using the Anaqua IP asset management system, coordinate IP training and events for Nielsen's community of inventors and branding professionals, prepare and distribute social media assets that recognize and celebrate Nielsen innovators upon reaching certain milestones, and otherwise contribute toward building Nielsen’s patent portfolio in a high-pace, collaborative environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Working with inventors to ensure complete invention disclosure submissions and arrange invention disclosure meetings with Nielsen’s patent practitioners.
- Preparing formal documents in connection with patent filings submitted to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, including assignments and declarations.
- Managing workflow to obtain electronically signed formal documents from inventors using DocuSign upon finalization of patent application draft.
- Preparing draft documents for submission to the United States Patent and Trademark Office, including information disclosure statements, application data sheets, powers of attorney, and transmittal letters; and assisting with uploading documents for electronic filing by patent practitioners via Patent Center.
- Managing invention records and patent records in Anaqua IP asset management system.
- Managing membership of an employee resource group focused on building Nielsen's culture of innovation using Espresa portal, which will include assisting with coordination of internal webinars and other events for the group, providing regular updates to the group's membership through internal communication channels, and serving as the primary point of contact for the group's membership.
- Preparing and posting social media assets and other internal marketing collateral to recognize and celebrate the accomplishments of Nielsen innovators.
Qualifications:
- At least 2 years experience as a patent administrative assistant in a law firm or corporate legal department.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to problem solve.
- Previous experience with CPi and Anaqua is valued.
- Chicago location preferred but not required.

A reasonable estimate of salary range for a new employee to be offered this role would be between $38,000 - $155,000, which would be adjusted based on each employee's geographic location. The position of each employee within a compensation range at Nielsen is dependent on several individual circumstances, such as experience, training, certifications, and other business requirements/needs.
