Urban Grid is seeking a Legal Intern to work closely with the General Counsel, Senior Paralegal, and others on the in-house Legal team to support all manner of legal operations and workflow, including contract and document review and management, corporate governance and entity management, legal research, and compliance and regulatory support.

This is a paid internship that will start on or around June 2, 2025, with an end date of August 8, 2025.

During the 10-week program, interns will participate in virtual, company-wide and department meetings, virtual monthly Friday lunch & learn trainings and a culminating group presentation on your overall internship experience. The program is structured to provide exposure to careers in renewable energy, best practices in internal communications as part of a remote/ hybrid team and best of all, the opportunity to work and support a team of professionals who are experts in their field.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with reviewing, drafting, and editing correspondence, legal documents, including contracts and agreements.
  • Preparing and filing corporate documents including maintaining and updating corporate records.
  • Assist Legal, Contracts and Compliance department with regulatory research and regulatory filings.
  • Assist Legal and Structured Finance teams on closing of financial and M&A transactions, including but not limited to administration of closing checklists, preparation of signature pages and officer certificates, and tracking of post-closing items.
  • Support maintenance of corporate governance and administration for relevant legal entities.
  • Maintain legal archive documents and advise and assist on organizational document information and management practices.
  • Perform any other legal tasks and administrative duties as assigned.

Location

This position will be in our Houston, TX Headquarters working a Hybrid 3 days a week in the office/ 2 days remote. Position will require a trip to one of the project sites VA.

Candidate to work full-time hours Monday - Friday during the summer duration of the internship.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in or recently completed a paralegal studies program, legal assistant program, or law school.
  • Strong interest in corporate law, contracts, and compliance.
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Experience or coursework in contract review, legal research, or corporate law is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel) and using virtual data rooms to upload and organize documents.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Interest in renewable energy, corporate governance, or regulatory compliance is a plus.

Benefits

Interns will receive 24 hours of PTO, 2 paid holidays and a $60 monthly cell phone reimbursement during their internship.
