Legal Counsel, Senior

The Essence of this Role  

We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel focusing on Data & Privacy with experience advising on tech Product to join our dynamic legal team and support Affinidi’s international operations. The ideal candidate will possess a well-rounded background in Privacy, and experience in advising on Product matters in the technology space. This role involves handling a variety of legal matters centred around privacy, including privacy best practice and regulatory best practice.  

Depending on the candidate the role may also have a significant role counselling on Product. The involves end-to-end product counselling - from the initial stages of product development and beyond - as well as provide legal advice on consumer regulatory, privacy and security laws, marketing, and technology transactions 

We are looking for a Legal Counsel with the following attributes:

• Stakeholder Management – You are able to build and maintain good relationships with stakeholders, including your colleagues and clients. 

What You’ll Do  

You’ll become knowledgeable about our technology, products and be involved in helping us build world leading data practices, communicating the vision of Affinidi as it changes and evolves. On the product side you’ll help to ensure that we are able to launch our products globally by collaborating with the company's product and business teams from the initial stages of product development and beyond to identify potential legal risks and provide risk-mitigation counselling. 

You will:   

• Provide counsel on all privacy related matters (including data protection, privacy, and cybersecurity) for Affinidi generally and our product offerings to ensure we are compliant with regulations globally;
• Support the Commercial Lead on the range of commercial and contractual matters to support the various business units;
• Work closely with the Product and Engineering teams on privacy by design, privacy impact assessments, and other supporting documentation.   
• Stay abreast of relevant regulations impacting the technology industry and ensure compliance. 

  You should apply if you:  

• 5+ years of legal experience in tech or background in TMT, regulatory and privacy law (PDPA, GDPR). 
• Are passionate about working in a start-up environment and love to problem solve and come up with creative ideas to solve customer challenges.  
• Possess a growth mindset with a strong bias for action and are able to proactively execute tasks and have a structured working style.  
• Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.  
• Strong business acumen with the ability to align legal advice with organizational goals.  
• Adaptable to a fast-paced and evolving technology environment.   

Good to have:   

• Strong understanding of the technology industry, including regulatory frameworks. 
• Experience in counselling on broader product issues will be a significant advantage.
