As counsel dedicated to support Hypebeast’s digital media and ecommerce business activities within the North America and EMEA regions or within APAC. You will not only work closely with professionals within digital media and content creation, ecommerce, supply chain, logistics, but you will also work alongside support functions such as finance, IT, marketing, to support business development and aimed achievements. Your scope will not be limited to drafting only, it further involves legal and contractual negotiations, conducting analysis and advising over a range of matters related to commercial transactions, advertising and marketing regulations, B2B2C, logistics, KYC and due diligence.
As part of Hypebeast’s drive for dynamics, you will work closely with other counsels to collectively support the Group towards achieving business goals and objectives, whilst simultaneously ensure management and mitigation of business risks are constantly identified and maintained.
Responsibilities:
- Reporting to the Legal Director, you will support the business by providing risk-based legal advice with a strong sense of commercial acumen on assigned legal matters.
- Act as first point of contact towards the designated regions’ business teams and relevant stakeholders over legal advisory matters and provide commercial transaction support.
- Develop and provide strategic advice and recommendation to relevant business units and support functions collaborating or involved, including finance, media, production.
- Develop best practices on procurement frameworks, vendor conduct and management, KYC and due diligence, adherence to usual industry practices.
- Undertake analysis, identify and secure risks over business engagements to ensure activities conducted are within corporate risk appetite and framework, with proactiveness to initiate mitigation planning.
- Support on marketing related activities involving Hypebeast (as a brand), including conducting legal research, examining jurisdictional limitations and cross-border advertising requirements to ensure marketing contents are properly & compliantly distributed.
- Collaborate with other counsels to continuously monitor and develop risk management recommendations to help enhance group risk mitigation and inherent impact.
- Assistance on matters related to dispute, insurance, real estate.
- Remain up to date on legal industry requirements and regulations related to practice.
- Ad hoc assignments and projects which may or may not be related to practice.
Requirements:
- Qualified lawyer admitted in Hong Kong or a Commonwealth jurisdiction (preferably England and Wales) and holds a current practising certificate, or is a member in good standing of the New York Bar.
- 3 - 6 years PQE, with at least 1 year of relevant experience as an in-house counsel.
- Experience in civil litigation and/or commercial dispute preferred.
- Strong drafting skills with attentiveness to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate (verbal and written) legal advice with diverse stakeholders, with practical thinking and a commercially sensible risk-based approach to achieve solutions.
- Ability to work swiftly and accurately under pressure and time constraints.
- Commitment to handle matters with integrity, care, respect and confidentiality.
- Strong sense of teamwork in maintaining legal integrity and transparency.
- Ability to prioritize work from multiple internal clients and escalate as needed.
