Job Description 

We are looking for a Legal Counsel based in EMEA thatwill report to the VP of Legal. You will be part of a small but mighty team that is supporting a high-growth company.

What you'll do

  • Become a member of our growing team in our Legal team supporting all functions.
  • Provide pragmatic, creative guidance on contract-related issues with your business acumen.
  • Independently manage strategic and complex legal matters.
  • Partner with internal teams to drive customer deals to execution and design and support scalable processes for implementation.
  • Negotiate enterprise and other industry specific agreements for Fortanix’s products and services.
  • Provide guidance and trainings to educate and enable our sales teams on legal issues.
  • Help with special internal projects, including building a compliance program, improving legal processes and providing privacy guidance with regard to the implementation and interpretation of new or changing privacy laws and regulations.

  • Excel in partnering with multiple stakeholders to strengthen the connection and legal brand across the business. 
  • Perform risk analysis review for all contractual documents and recommend mitigating options 
  • Bring empathy and understanding to your conversations with customers, looking for a path forward that balances company risk and customer needs in a respectful and creative way. 
  • Enjoy getting deals done. 
  • Have experience working across the globe in support of multiple time zones and cultures and can navigate a decentralized and complex organization spread across the globe. 
  • Have an understanding of software technology and cloud services, associated business models, and technology industry trends, privacy developments. 
  • Think creatively outside of the "legal" box to create possible solutions and options for the business, promoting risk-based recommendations. 
  • Enjoy communicating with the business and customers to help them understand and develop trust in the company. 

Requirements

  • A law degree, preferably in one of EMEA jurisdictions.  
  • Overall you have 7+ years of relevant legal experience, focused on commercial transactions with a focus on complex technology transactions, and with at least three years in-house (preferably at a high-growth technology company). You have meaningful experience drafting and negotiating a wide range of contracts on an international scale and are familiar with and can handle data privacy topics, intellectual property (including open source software) issues and understand revenue recognition and compliance matters in connection with commercial contracts. 
  • Ability to handle competing priorities in a dynamic environment.  
  • Willingness to handle new areas of responsibility and grow, including the implementation of a privacy compliance program. 
  • Strong communication skills, proactive, approachable and reliable. 
  • Ability to handle data privacy topics, and understand revenue recognition and compliance matters in connection with commercial contracts. 
  • Passion for understanding and supporting our customers, products, culture, and business model.
