Legal Counsel - Fixed Term Contract

 

Join Careem’s dynamic legal team as we expand our business across the MENAP region. This is a fixed-term role of one year, with the potential for renewal based on performance and business needs. You will play a pivotal role in supporting Careem’s ambitious growth strategy, ensuring that our operations are both efficient and compliant in an ever-evolving landscape.



What you’ll do 

  • Contract Review and Negotiation: Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements with partners, vendors, landlords, suppliers, and other key business associates. You’ll also manage interactions with external counsel when necessary, communicating outcomes effectively to our business teams.
  • Legal Advice: Provide expert legal advice and guidance to stakeholders, management, and business units. Your insights will be key to ensuring compliance with local laws and regulations while driving Careem’s success.
  • Risk Management: Identify and strategize against potential legal risks and liabilities that could impact Careem. Working closely with the team leads to developing proactive strategies that mitigate risks and protect our interests as we continue to grow.
  • Corporate Governance: Support corporate governance efforts by advising on documentation for board meetings, corporate filings, and ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures for relevant business units.
  • Ethics and Values: Uphold and promote ethical and compliant behaviour in line with Careem’s values, ensuring our operations are always above board.



What you’ll need

  • Minimum of a law degree from a reputable university 
  • Fluent in English and Arabic (both oral and written) 
  • Minimum of 4 years of work experience post qualification/admission to bar/law society. 
  • Strong experience of contract analysis, review and drafting. 
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex legal matters to non-legal stakeholders clearly.
  • Comfortable in working with shifting priorities, ambiguity and fast-paced environments.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
