Lead Technical Product Manager (15+ years, Payments)

The Risk and Identity Solutions (RaIS) is a key component of the Value-Added Services (VAS) PD within Visa. VAS-RaIS has a suite of high visibility, high-volume, revenue earning applications that provide solutions related to Risk Management, Identity and Authentication. As Lead TPM, you will be responsible for driving the global strategy and roadmap for the B2C Identity and Access management product with internal business stakeholders, and solution providers. The Lead TPM will possess a strong technical product management background, with demonstrated experience in managing products and services that have created business value and delivered impact within the payment risk domain or similar industries.

A successful candidate is a high impact leader with the ability to engage in high bandwidth conversations with business and technology partners across regions and be able to think broadly about Visa’s business and drive solutions that will enhance the safety and integrity of Visa’s payment ecosystem. Successful candidate will be skilled at forging strong partnerships with business sponsors, product owners, architects, and developers to define feature sets, story maps, detailed user stories (functional and non-functional) to support the development process.

You will lead the collaborations with the business and tech teams to create feature requirement and work with the program management and the engineering team to ensure timely delivery of solutions for VISA clients and partners.  You will participate in solution architecture design and API specifications to ensure that the solution is extensible and can scale to support our client’s needs.  You will work together with the business and the engineering team to define milestones and lead deliverables.  You will collaborate with the program management team to ensure that the deliverables are on track and meeting delivery dates. This role is an individual contributor role that requires to work with executives across product and engineering orgs.

Accountabilities - General

  • Technical product management functions including defining the tactical roadmap, owning the features, issue/risk management, and definition of success criteria for pilots.
  • Extensive cross-organization collaboration with internal VISA groups and external partners to ensure that requirements are clearly understood.
  • Working with business teams in the US to gather high level requirements and define features and execute it across different development teams in different regions.
  • Ability to lead teams located at multiple countries and yet drive a seamless execution.
  • Strong collaboration and leadership skills along with a technical and product acumen.
  • Interface with various technology teams and business stakeholders to identify requirements, converting them to feature specs, prioritizing, and driving execution of the features.
  • Be the customer (internal and external) seat in the engineering team. Should have deep passion for satisfying customer needs and influencing design and priority appropriately.
  • Define milestones for internal teams and external partners such that the product delivery dates are met as per the clients’ needs.
  • Represent the product team in engineering team meetings and provide clarifications regarding features and requirements.
  • Create high level technical solution for the pilots and highlight any external dependencies and technology risks.
  • Work closely with the engineers and contribute to the development of design artifacts and Quality Assurance test plans.
  • Plan and conduct User Acceptance Testing with key stakeholders, Bug bashes, and hackathons.
  • Provide guidance to the product team regarding technical feasibility during the definition phase of the pilots.
  • Understand business objectives and define KPIs together with the product team.
  • Provide updates and highlight any technical issues to the executive management.
  • Manage multiple projects simultaneously and ensure on-time/quality delivery.
  • Beneficial to be hands-on on any technical areas, where required such building some scripts to view data to help monitoring etc.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Monday and Tuesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.

Basic Qualifications
• 10+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 7 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 4 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 13+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications
• 12 or more years of work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or 8-10 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 6+ years of work experience with a PhD
• Educational background in Computer Science/Engineering. MBA is a plus
• Technical experience in Java technologies, API (SOAP & Rest) & Web Development, advantageous to have Golang and open source technologies.
• Technical experience in scripting and knowledge on using AI and reporting tools is advantageous.
• It will be an added advantage if the candidate has experience working in Financial Services and Product Development space (in one or more of the following areas– Merchant & Partner portals, Risk & Fraud management, Identity and Access Management, Payment Security, Tokenization etc.).
• Hands on experience in developing roadmaps, writing user stories, grooming product backlogs and coordinating/prioritizing conflicting requirements in a fast paced, ever changing environment.
• Proficiency working in an agile environment.
• Exceptional collaboration and partnership skills with the ability to work in a global environment and drive consensus in cross-functional teams.
• Demonstrated interpersonal skills to interface well with clients and partners at all levels.
• Outstanding communications ability to a diverse customer audience, executives, product, and technology stakeholders.
• Ability to interpret business requirements, both implied and explicit, from stakeholder communication and convert them into technical requirements with strong acceptance criteria for the tech team to implement
• Solid business acumen
• Working knowledge of compliance regulations (PCI-DSS, GDPR, CCPA, etc) would be considered advantage.
• Experience demonstrating strong leadership, self-motivation and accountability
• Fast learner on both technical and business side
• Strong customer centric mindset.
• Comfortable operating in a matrix setup
• Proactive, demonstrate sense of urgency and can do attitude
• Strategic thinker who can balance big picture strategy with detailed, flawless execution
• Detail and results oriented, able to analyze data to justify product decisions and apply key learnings.

• Ability to stay organized while managing competing priorities.
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Bachelor s degree in Computer Science/ IT or equivalent, MBA a plus.
