Job Purpose and Overview :

Are you a maker who loves helping others do their best work? Get on board as a Lead Software Engineer on one of Appfire’s leading Atlassian app development teams.  Many of our apps are some of the most popular in the Atlassian ecosystem used by teams across the globe. Due to Appfire's exponential growth, we seek a talented and highly self-motivated professional to join our team.  There will be many opportunities to showcase your deep technical knowledge, keen analytical skills, mentorship, proficiency in written communication, and interpersonal and organizational skills. 

Where you'll make an impact

When you arrive, you will start our onboarding process, where you will learn the ins and outs of building Atlassian apps at Appfire. In contrast, you immediately start to work with your team-building features for our numerous Atlassian server and cloud products. Using your favourite IDE, you will spend your day committing code, participating in code reviews, and keeping your development tasks up to date. Because we release frequently, you will feel the satisfaction of delivering production code to real customers asking for features you worked on!

What you will do

  • Lead, develop and maintain scalable web applications using Java, Angular, Node, and Clojure, React, ensuring seamless integration with Atlassian tools (Confluence, Jira, Bitbucket). Javascript, SQL, HTML, CSS.
  • Recognized as a subject matter expert, Manages large projects or processes, and has Limited oversight from the Manager. Coaches, reviews, and delegates work to lower-level professionals. Problems faced are difficult and often complex. Influences others regarding policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Design responsive UIs that integrate seamlessly with Atlassian products, enhancing the user experience. Ready to adopt other platforms like Monday.com, Slack, Salesforce, etc.
  • Deploy and manage applications in cloud environments, leveraging AWS or Google Cloud while adhering to Atlassian's cloud capabilities.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to leverage Atlassian tools for project tracking, documentation, and code management.
  • Ensure high-quality code, automate processes where possible, and contribute to the continuous improvement of development practices.
  • Provide mentorship, share knowledge on Atlassian products and best practices within the team, and adhere to the SDLC process.
  • Take customer requirements and write clear design documents.
  •  Provide feedback on & improve processes, tools, & training for the development team.

What we would like to see

  • 8 -10 years of experience in software programming using Java, JavaScript, Node.js, Clojure, React/VueJS, Angular, Jquery, and SQL.
  • Experience in additional programming languages and frameworks is advantageous.
  • Must have solid technical experience with enterprise-level, N-tier web applications.
  • Familiarity with Atlassian products such as Confluence, Jira, and Bitbucket is preferred.
  • Experience developing Atlassian apps for Server/DataCenter or using Atlassian Connect Framework is a plus.
  • Development experience with Java RESTful APIs.
  • Experience with SQL and various RDBMS environments (MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQLServer,   Oracle, etc).
  • Knowledge of Containers like Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS ECS is a plus.
  • Experience with Git, Bitbucket, or Github.
  • Experience in Maven, Gradle, and Continuous Integration tools like Bitbucket Pipelines or Bamboo.
  • Experience with DevOps and various cloud hosting environments, such as Amazon, Heroku, Google Cloud, etc., is a plus.
  • Knowledge of integrating Analytic tools like Amplitude and Pendo.io, LaunchDarkly, and        LogRocket is a plus.
  • Previous experience designing, developing, and deploying solutions that involve integration using well-published APIs (REST, SOAP, RPC, etc).
  • Experience in writing and executing integration tests.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to innovate and adapt to new challenges.
  • Knowledge of software build, packaging, release management, and installation process.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with experience working in agile/scrum environments.
  • Ability to self-motivate and work independently and as part of a team.
