Lead Software Developer

Join us as a Lead Software Developer. You should be able to visit the office in Helsinki when needed. 

You will join the Customer Monitoring team which forms part of the Cloud Platform department. This will be a new team with a focus on engineering actionable monitoring and alerting tools (such as APIs, status pages etc.) for RELEX customers. We are looking for an experienced engineer with a passion for observability platforms and customer-facing applications. In this role, you are expected to become the technical lead for a new team, we have many seasoned engineers to provide support during the first months of the project.  

This is some of what you will be doing:  

  • Design and develop tools like APIs and status/health pages for customers 
  • Peer up with the Product Manager to Discover industry trends and standards for SaaS companies as well as understand customer requirements 
  • Iterate in short feedback loops to find what generates value to customers and RELEX 
  • Collaborate with the (Internal) Observability team to identify data we collect, what we could expose to customers and how this data would be most valuable to customers 
  • Work with development and product teams across the company to learn about events and alerts from various RELEX applications 
  • Take the lead in writing request for comments (RFC) documents 
  • Hands-on development and code reviews 
  • Take responsibility for the entire lifecycle of projects 

Minimal requirements:

  • 7 years of experience as Software Engineer, which includes at least 2 years of experience as Technical Leader 
  • 3 years of experience developing cloud native applications 
  • 3 years of experience developing containerized applications running in Kubernetes cluster 
  • 3 years of experience with Linux-based workloads 
  • 3 years of experience with both backend and frontend development 
  • Expert knowledge of at least one programming language (Golang, C#, JavaScript, Java, Kotlin, Rust), ability to learn fast, help other developers and teach 
  • 3 years of experience with Golang 
  • Knowledge of design patterns, algorithms, data structures and software architecture 
  • Ability to work independently, maintain quality of your work and help more junior team members 
  • Strong communication skills in English

Considered as an advantage:

  • Relevant Microsoft Azure Cloud certifications (e.g., Azure Developer Associate) 
  • Experience working in an international environment 
  • Experience in Observability domain and with Observability tools (Prometheus, Datadog, Victoria Metrics, Azure Monitoring, Honeycomb, etc.) 
  • Open-source contributions, especially to observability tools 
  • Experience with Helm and Terraform
